One hand melee weapons are ridiculously short while having a good for nothing large handle
Compared to warband, you basically can't hit anything on horse back with a sword.

You can make a silly huge 2h and use it at great effect on horseback...

You can make quite long 1h swords as well...

first, some handles are big, some are short, whats the point of that part of your post?

second, i would never even use one handed weapons on horseback by myself cause why? lol thats like using the slowest car for a race... if you want it to be easy thats a bad idea

third, in sturgia there are tournaments where you spawn on horseback with a short sword, and thats really short like 80 or so, while one handed weapons i use (bought) are 90-110. this weapon is more then good enugh to hit enemies from horseback, its just still a bad idea cause anyone can also hit you... you know thats why they use polearms on horseback, so that the enemy wont be able to hit them

Definitely not as easy as it used to be. The angle seems a little bit high, so pointing the camera nearly straight-down can help with shorter swords to adjust the angle of the swing a bit. Might want to consider thrusts as well.

If you took notice, almost every one-handed sword & saber has a lager-than-realistic handle.

Just make a 2H sword that can also be used with one hand

yeah you kinda need to make a custom one with a decent length. if i recall correctly with the best parts you can make a 1h sword comparable to a 2h sword in terms of length.

- you can make 1h weapons that are same reach than 2h weapons or 2h weapons usable for 1h
- you don't want to use 1h/2h weapons when riding a horse, use a swinging polearm...

and stop be nostalgic and use this "warband was better" stuff, compare to bannerlord, warband is a more glitchy mess and technical horrorshow.

I use the Pernach off horseback and it works very nicely.

That's simply not true 1h is fine if you make a decent one like you said. While we can all agree swing or thrusting polearm is better and it's the meta for horseback it doesn't mean you shouldn't use the weapon you want even if it a little harder on horseback.

when you use one handed on horseback your primary target are other cavalry, for ground targets its polearms, spears or swinging two handed. its preferred to master at least two weapon types otherwise you have to stick to the targets you manage best. mastering all three melee weapons make for a great general, and then you can change between one handed for quick strikes on bypassing cavalry and for shield defense, two handed for mowing down several targets, especially on foot, and/or polearms or spears to guarantee landing a hit and landing it first, also giving you an advantage over cavalry if you get dismounted

Any sword that has a length of 108-110+ is good enough to hit enemies on a horse.

End Game Suggestion without crafting:

- Engraved Backsword (Battanian Culture, Shieldbreaking, Civilian 1 handed).
- Reaoer (Battanian Culture Falx, Shieldbreaking, and can be used in two handed mode for killing.

There's various tier 4-5 Sabers, Kaskaras, Spantha and Simitars that are 110+ with Fine Steel Cavalry Broadsword at 117 length and Narrow Fine Steel Kaskara at 116.

For crafting:

- Highland Decorated Blade (T5 Civilian+Shield Breaking) and max out its length. I like the T5 Gold Decorated Leather Bastard Sword Grip or the Bronze one right next to it for extra speed/Length. Pick a good pommel that helps with the weaknesses of the weapon (Handling and Swing Speed). Your goal here is to get a weapon with about 124-125ish length and 80ish swing speed/handling and savescum for good crafting bonuses (legendary if you have perk) to boost swing speed/handling.

You're basically crossing the two highest priced one handed swords, Engraved Backsword and it's speedy cousin the Decorated Broadsword. Not only is the sword good for mounted, but it's great for my Battanian foot general characters. With high Athletics you can kite and hit enemies without them hitting you while still holding a shield. Your engaged but not committed to super close combat. :)
