Best weapons?
In warband i used to carry two handed swords only and it was probably best weapon. What is best two handed in bannerlord? Some kind of glaive? Or axe? I dont know if there is any sword beside the one you can get by joining faction or crafting it by yourself.

Glaive, two-handed axe, and for prison breaks two-handed swords. Craft legendary weapons, and you can find something perfect for you.

As far as i know .. spears are only for piercing attack and glaive can slash from left and right side when on mount? There are also weapons that can be both spear and glaive and you can change it with X button, or am i mistaken?

I'm sure there's a mathematically "best" weapon out there but I prefer the falx sword. Its both one hand and two hand. You can march up with the shieldwall and put away the shield and start chopping. Also has the shield damage bonus but I don't think I ever broke a shield ever.

Rhomphalia is my polearm of choice. Probably has the best swing speed for its range and damage so still deadly on foot.

I do have a soft spot for the empire vassal sword though. I just like it for no gameplay related reason. I feel like I was upgraded from a legionnaire to a noble.

There are also other swords besides falx that can be wielded with either one or both hands. Broad bladed kaskara is my favorite, but heavy axe is nice for cleaving through infantry from horseback. Glaives are very good too, especially if you're still getting used to riding and swinging or can't yet have great horse barding.

All i know is that it seems like lances are worse in bannerlord, i can't seem to get them to land as often. Probably more realistic, but slightly frustrating since using a lance seems to be a more dangerous proposition as well. As for what others have said, i do quite like the falx. I've found one handed maces quite nice on horse back as well.

Spears and lances can be good, but you want that high ride and a fast and manoeuvrable horse to be a lancer.

Spear on foot with a shield is actually quite interesting and can be safe if you are fighting with your infantry (stab 200+ away, dart back, block arrow, jump back in and stab), but you want the polearm and athletics high, and to take the damage bonus to thrust, knockdown, and damage bonus to thrust to the head in the polearm tree. Then you will have a good time stabbing faces and temples. Spears are also quite weird, in that some have low damage, 20s, some have very nice damage 30s-40s (made into great damage with the suggestions above), and they all have a sweet spot that varies and changes your best thrust (it is why I like the basic imperial lance, it feels nice, quick, and accurate, even though the damage isn't great).

The best weapon is entirely situational, completely dependent on a number of factors that change over the course of a campaign, factors such as weapon skill, athletics skill, riding skill, location, smithed or stock, difficulty settings, and what you actually like using.

That being said and with limited context:

On horseback: ranged
On foot: fast and long
On the parapets: ranged
In the dungeon: fast and short
Never: axes

In the dungeons a two-handed sword just a bit over 105 in length can be perfect, with the right damage.

The problem with dungeons is all the damn walls getting in the way of swings. Yeah I know it can be controlled, but its not always that easy.

2H Axe for the multi-enemy swing through killing capability is my absolute favorite. Falx sword is awesome for 1v1 combat for faster swing, but if you are taking down large groups of enemies the tier 5 axe heads with tier 1 handle gives awesome swing speed and you can wipe out multiple enemies per swing.
Sabaithal Jul 23, 2022 @ 9:56am
Yeah, the advantage axes have is that they are one of only two weapon types that can "cleave" through multiple opponents in one swing. The longer range you can get with them, the better.

Weren't 2h weapons mostly a multiplayer thing primarly? IIRC, two-handers were a lot faster than their listed speed rating in order to balance the lack of autoblocking (a 90 speed 2h can still outswing a 100 speed 1h)

Sledgehammer is fantastic for prisoner harvesting. Great Bardiche is wonderful on horseback, same concept as the glaive but it can take 3-5 targets at a shot when going full speed along enemy lines. Round-bitted axe with short handle for assaulting castle walls.
The falx that you get for joining the Battanians, Reaper, is a good high damage 1/2 hand sword. I also like using the sledge or bardiche for prison breaks, but many people don't know how to position properly to use the walls to their advantage and prefer shorter blades.

Best two-handed weapons for my playstyle and basically a repeat of what others have said:

- Glaive-like line of spears that can by swung.

- Battanian Falx Bastard Sword (Reaper) or a crafted Two handed only Falx. Falx is a Shield Breaking sword. You get the best of both worlds of two handed sword/axe, save for the axe boosting traits (I believe anyways since they would likely have 1handedsword tag).

- The Two-Handed Highland/Mountain blades are civilian weapons, Bastard Swords (Have 1-handed mode and thus can be used with shields) with pretty good reach, damage and speed. Some of the best. The shorter reach blades can be really good for civilian interiors too.

*As a side note anything with the One-Handed only Highland Blades, crafted or premade, tend to be the best for 1-handed only playstyle, because they're civilian, have great reach/dmg AND shield breaking like the Falx.*

- Two-Handed Axes as stated for their cleaving.

Two-handed weapons tend to have better animation flow than one-handed weapons and higher attack animations that can hit more critical areas of the body imo. In addition to their speed.
