How to upgrade Imperial Vigla Recruits

So i have some Vigla recruits that are ready to level, but it says Required: Mount (You have none) but i have a sumpter, saddle horse, tyal, wadar, and charger in my inventory, and none seem to work for upgrading my troops. Any idea how to fix this?

A war horse is required i believe.

The charger is a war mount and it doesn't seem to enable upgrades

Upgrading Vigla recruit requires a regular horse. Not a sumpter horse, not a mule, not a war horse, and not a noble horse (like that Tyal). I believe it will be labelled 'Mount'.

Saddle horse is just "Mount" and doesn't work either.

Horse needs to be with "mount type: mount or something" trait, if it doesn't have it, it is not for people but for cargo and troops can't ride it.

You need a tier 1 horse to upgrade cavalry initially, basically a vigla recruit to equite or khuzait nomad to Tribal Warrior. Tier 1 horses include Middlands Panfrey, Steppe Horse, and quite a few others. Tier 2-4 horses which will be labelled as war horses are required to upgrade cavalry to tier 4, so khuzait horseman to lance, equite to heavy horseman, varyag veteran to druzhnik, etc. Tier 5-6 horses can't upgrade troops.

So saddle horses were changed, they now count as pack animals, same as sumpter horses. Tyal horses are war horses. You need some of the lower level actual horses to upgrade them

Four mount types:
- Mount - Not eligible for troop upgrades
- Riding mount - Used for most basic mounted units
- War mounts - Used for advanced mounted units
- Noble mounts - Not eligible AFAIK

You can check the mount type a horse is by looking at its stats, should be at the bottom.
