Go vassal or straight to kingdom?
Just curious what everyone else does and why. I don't usually ever go vassal but i'm not really sure of the benefits and such. Last time I wanted to start my own kingdom after being a vassal everyone suddenly hated me, but that may have been my own fault seeing as how I was drunk and don't really remember how I did it.

good luck (you cant) making kingdom without cheats or lots of experience (and realistically BOTH...)... without being a vassal.

The question usually is "go vassal and wait to inherit kingdom?", or "go merc/vassal then split off and form my own? and if so, do I take fiefs with me?"

That is the question. I do INHERIT. I've done all the other ways... they just take longer. and require some cheesy trickery to pull off..

But no.. You, nor 99.99999999% of players aren't just hanging around.. getting to clan tier 4 solo (hahaha good luck) then randomly seeing a town ripe to take with your ONE party... and knowing how to even enable it to be attacked.. AND WINNING.. etc etc. etc

Just ignore cheat mode.. be a merc or vassal somewhere. Then decide if u wanna inherit it , or form your own (if u form own.. YES take your fiefs with u.. for sure. FOR FOR FOR SURE)

Personally, I generally look to Vassal, then break away with my Fiefs. The secret here is to have REALLY great relations with whoever you are creatively borrowing from. If you have that, at least this is my experience, you can make peace with them pretty quickly. Won't completely save you, but, at least it is one worry off your back.

Eve
I become a vassal to get rich and famous, and when the time is ripe; Kingdom time!

Take you time with progression, rushing to kingdom will end you frustrated as it comes with inevitable forever war situation. You will be defending your fiefs and not much time to do anything else.

Whats the best way to go from vassal to kingdom then? Just make everyone like you as much as possible and then split off with your fiefs?
QbeX Aug 1, 2022 @ 8:09am
That is one way to do it, but if you have death enabled you can hedge your bets to become a king when current king gets gut on battlefield or dies from old age and your clan is strongest and richest then you become a successor (you can "help" with that- its been known about accidents on battlefield involving current king eating a well placed javelin). There are many more creative way for it when opportunity arises.

i usually went vassal first and became owner of towns that i wanted to use for my own kingdom later. mostly empire cities with a strong economy.

Being king is boring, much better to be Uber vassal and use influence to get everything you want while avoiding any hate and blame you would get by being king.

No... and I will warn you to duck. Many new people, or theory crafters, or MOST LIKELY cheat moders (though, some could just be using Trainer Mods...) will spout how easy it is. It isn't......

And I will give the short answer why. (yeah this is the SHORT version, we could spend hours outlining all the stuff that will happen.. but thats the beauty of the game.. seeing the things happen, and having to fix them)

When you are vassal and leave to make a kingdom.... This is a BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG deal. World altering. And I am not exaggerating.

Noobs will think "Duh, doh that ummm relation hitz I tuk when I leeved and take da fifes with me, sure is terrible. but I will fix".

No.. The relation his is NOTHING, I dont care if it goes down to -500.... (it doesnt).. And them THINKING thats the issue, pretty much is ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL THE proof you need, they are on cheat mode... Let's explain a bit

Cheat mode:
Be vassal. leave. take my fiefs. Have my 2 parties (me and a companion) all jacked up because Even though I have no idea how to make money.. which is super easy to do.. I still cheat in 50,000,000 gold at a time.. I now have 3 towns, and 5 castles.. And am a kingdom. I then Teleport to everywhere I am attacked. I then fight, until I am bored, or realize I stink.. then Ctrl F4 them all. Huzzah Me is great. Now I do this over and over... until all 7 factions have been crippled nonstop for 2-4 years.. THEY can't recover quickly.. and I also TP, and take some of their fiefs. Huzzah. Me getting strong.

Rinse repeat.

The Real way it would work is:\
I have 1-2 towns, maybe 3. I hopefully know how to make money, but this is my first time, and I'm not prepared, I got 3 million denars. I also have 2 castles... Now It's just me and my one party and I leave.. Uh oh.. everyone declared war on me.. Oh dear.. What do I do.. try to run here??? ugh, not enough time... make another party make another party quickquick.... Ugh... well hurry get him in an ARMY, now try for both of us to defend... nope.. this isn't going well.... Quit, go to forums tell everyone this game is trash.

How to do it:
(Which I don't advise until you are real experienced). You get a couple TOWNS (3 or more preferably, not easy to do on legit, due to how towns are put to vote). You want 1-2 castles if possible. You have been RELEASING EVERY SINGLE LORD you capture since day 1.. over and over. Huzzah I have high charm, AND Great relations everywhere. I also have 10 mil gold.. Cause I be super uber :steamhappy: and know how econ works. Now I make a second party (Hmmm older brother.. cool). And a THIRD party (hmmmm younger brother.. awesome). We Don't combine into an army yet (since if we do, we cant leave our kingdom). Now I of course have MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE reserves in my towns, preferably ALL of them. ALL are tier 5-6. My castles I want a good amount of troops.. say 200ish.. that are strong as well. Again, Im uber :Crowned: , I know econ.. I can afford it during this prep. I then decide WHEN I'm gonna rebel, and try to get ME next to a mercenary lord... When I rebel. I INSTANTLY go to him and say "hey join me". I then INSTANTLY make an army with me, and my TWO brothers... We now have an "army" of 3 parties" that is strong, and 4 ai lords (merc) running around being scrubs..

BUT... my "Kingdom power" aint pure garbage.. it is about... 1500??? 2000???? I want it 5k minimum.. Without strong garrisons Im weaker power, without the Mercs IM weaker power AND DO NOT have parties riding around causing annoyances to nearby enemies.

I see everyone declared war on me. Lame. Now, I do whatever I can, over and over.. to get ALL of them to accept peace. Gold, tribute... whatever. I buy myself a couple weeks each time I get a peace proposal. Yay.

Then I look for nearby clans with NO fiefs.. Hopefully I remembered to ALWAYS release everyone.. and he has 40+ relation to me. Approach him, save.. Talk to him, ask to join me. PAY HIM. Yay a new clan. If I have the trade perk I give him a castle immediately. If not, I wait for FIRST fief we get.. town or castle, and give it to him.

Eventually I get more lords, more fiefs, HIT 5k+ power... and now HOPEFULLY I am not weakest faction... so other people will not ALWAYS focus on me.

Rinse, repeat. Win. Long grind...

Or just inherit it. Keep the lords it originally had (from old king), plus you (strongest clan in game by far...) and recruit more.. over and over. Win.

Both are same difficulty the longer the game goes on.. but AT FIRST, surviving the initial rush is a trick, and takes practice.

Or just cheat mode, then come to forums, post u never cheat.. and old timers who write like I did are idiots and dont know anything, and it is super easy to split off.. But never outline your "genius" strategy.. for fear you will be called out on the mistakes in it.. or accidentally slip up and mention u TP, and f4 kill troops. (and I don't mean a specific "YOU" I mean a general forum poster who is confused lol)

:)

Cheers

^^ this... the best strategy if you want to split off.. But you still need do the stuff I wrote above.. but this is the BEST way to pick what towns u want as your NEW BASE.

I do it all the time. First play mercenary and not vassal. Kingdoms get really pissy when you break your oath to them as a vassal, but don't when you're a mercenary. Save money until you reach about clan level 4 or 5, meanwhile building up your party and paying particular attention to who will run your other 2 war parties. Get a wife as soon as possible. Mary off your brother. When you feel you have enough troops to take a castle by yourself, and the political situation is right, quit your mercenary job and go smack the castle owners party. You can now attack and take that castle. Defend it for awhile with your party, you may have to retake it again. Keep this up until you see a city ripe for the taking and then take it. You are now ready to start your own kingdom.
It helps to release prisoners when you're doing the mercenary thing. Also, don't stick with one faction while being a mercenary, spread the love around so everyone gets to know you're a righteous dude. Don't be in a huge hurry to declare your kingdom. The higher your clan rank, the better.
Never used any cheats and I've started way more kingdoms than I can count.

I've seen towns rebel and get a red fist over them. Has anyone tried making a kingdom by attacking a rebel town?

seems simple. It isn't.. and even when u get your first town.. that is only when they REAL challenge begins..

But yes, this is what many people state as "this be ez all yous do iz waits for rebell"

It is far more difficult (though possible) than it sounds, for many reasons...

Hmm, I've never made a kingdom. I usually just make a new game with a specific objective in mind, play until I either do that or realize I can't, then start over and try something else.
