but if you mostly support your kingdom in expanding / war and are involved in nearly every big battle, the chance for dying should be "high".
play iron-mode with highest game-difficult if you like to fail, or wait for a mod to play a super hard soul-like game...
edit: your childs needs 20 years to grow and all other childs from clans. i assume the game try to have a "healthy" population of lords / clans... so the chance to dy maybe change depending on whatever.
I'm about 12 years into my campaign and at least a dozen nobles have died in battle.
It's all down to Lady Luck and the fickle events of chance.
So, I'd say it happens fairly regularly enough, but it depends on your campaign settings going in.
