Mods that Make armor more effective
Is there an up to date mod that actually makes armor worth a damn? Getting *real* tired of cruising around on an armored warhorse, wearing 15k gold worth of gear, and getting one shotted by some stinky looter with a rusty hunting knife because I miscalculated a lance thrust by a fraction of a second.

Like... What the Hell even is this?

The armors we got in the game is not the arc-type Plated armor from the medieval ages. It's more scale and lamellar armor.

I am aware, thanks.

It's not exactly a *fix* as I personally didn't find armor to be an issue really. You can download 2 mods.

HP from level
Battle Regeneration

So extra hp and health regen it is up to you of course I really enjoy both mods myself and it made the game more fun and more balanced. I think it's actually not the armor being a problem but the health combined with armor aka effective health is to low and with tbc current hp numbers the devs work it must be very hard to make armor balanced. And it gives you a bonus to work towards to.

Try out Realistic Battle's Combat Module. Beyond changes to how weapons interact with armor in general, it tends to buff armor overall. That being said, it might change more than you'd want, and I had to go into it's config to suit my tastes.

Its literally a constant threat. I make one wrong move while coming in for a lance charge, and I'm either on my ass, or lose 50%-75% of my health from taking one hit.

And, no, don't give me that Dev apologist nonsense. Making a lance charge on the end guy of a formation of 10 unarmored peasant bandits absolutely *WOULD NOT* pose any threat whatsoever to an armored knight. Hell! Charging right through the middle should be something that can be accomplished with *contemptuous* ease.

The problem is that the game doesn't take armor type into account. A sword, for example? Should do exactly *diddly squat* to someone wearing plate. In this game, it cuts right through, barely impeded, with a slight damage reduction effect.
Well, I was thinking on foot for the example I provided, but that doesn't really matter.

And I'm not an apologist for the devs, I'm just doubting what you say. Because I've played the game plenty, and my experience is not at all what you describe. So either you're lying about the details, or you modded your game and messed something up.

I'd advise a clean install. That, or you can continue to argue and have your game still be broken. Do whatever you want, I'm unsubbing.

Thanks. Yeah, I might have actually tried this one before (almost a year ago at this point). It sounds kind of familar.

As I recall, it worked pretty good... Except that it made the Aseri *INSANELY* overpowered. I think it gave all their horse archers massive armor pen or something.

I guess I'll have to check and see if the mod's been updated to the latest version.

Using it in 1.6.4 without issue, though idk how it fares balance wise as i'm using a troop-tree overhaul. At any rate, armor now has a far more pronounced effect, though I'm wondering if its too much in the other direction.

A good armor doesn't turn you into a walking tank. It just protect you better, not make you invulnerable. An armored knight get knocked off his horse, pushed to the ground etc, is like a big turtle on the back. There is gaps in armor, joints etc, vulnerable places.

For those that claim armor have no use or not effective. Yeah well there is a huge difference in go into combat with the best armor you can get, and go in basically naked. If you want to be immune vs anything just play with godmode or something.

Opinion noted... And thoroughly disagreed with.

But ya know what? Whatever. If you want to still have to juke around like John Wick even though you're wearing enough armor to feed a city for a year, that's on you. Be a try-hard masochist if you want.

Hence my original question, *are there any mods out there that beef up armor values to more reasonable levels?*
Try Realistic Battle Mod on nexus makes combat last longer and harder and also beefs up armor values quite a bit.

Playing it now. *Definitely* enjoying a A LOT more than vanilla.

Unfortunately, however... Yeah, I can confirm that Azeri imbalance is still an issue.

I'm also playing with the "Serve as a Soldier" mod, enlisted with the Southern Empire. Pretty consistently, it seems to be *absolutely required* that we outnumber the Azeri by at least 2 to 1 in order to even pull off a phyrric victory.

Just did a SE 1300 vs AZ 650 battle, and we only had 100 men left by the end of it. The Azeri literally seem to have a natural 2 to 1 K/D rate with this mod. Not sure why.

Thats pretty rough. Don't have much experience with Aserai troops, so not sure what it'd be. I suppose I'd try a compatible troop overhaul mod then, see if it brings in more in-line. De Re Militari has treated me well so far.
