You can make a quick fix yourself.
In; Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBoxCore\ModuleData\spitems
You will find a file called "horses_and_others"
Use Notepad++ or whatever editor you want.
Change "difficulty" to 0 at line 771. and save the changes. You can now equip saddle horses to companions with no skills.
If you want to change it for other horses types you can do that as well. Just do a searech for the horse type you want to change.
There is 2 entries though. One for Tournament rules, and one for regular. Tournament rules already have horses set to 0 Difficulty. Also, I did mention it was for Saddle Horses in my example above -)
Incorrect.
If the player or any companion has LESS than 10 riding skill (which many of them do), then they cannot currently equip ANY horse unless they came with one already equipped like the player does at start. If you remove the starting sumpter horse, it cannot be re-equipped as they are no longer classed as a rideable mount.
The only way around it until it is patched is to either edit the files as mentioned above, or fight in tournaments constantly & hope you or the companion end up on a mount and get some riding skill xp.
Sumpter horse is just... pack horse afaik. In rl you can fine ride a pack horse and a mule if you so desire. The most famous squire in literature... Sancho Panza, Don Quixote's companion did ride a Donkey after all.
Well, Bobby, we're glad you asked --
A mule is an animal with long funny ears
Kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
He's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
And by the way, if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a mule.
But . . .
A horse is a horse of course of course
And no one can talk to a horse of course.
That is of course unless the horse
Is the famous Mister Ed!
