citys that have 2 of the same resource are th best ive found. the battanian city at the top of the hill with the little bridge in front of it i forget the name. has 2 clay towns, my best Ws was a potter in that city. there are a few others with 2 wheat making towns that work great with a brewery in the city.

citys at the edges of the map dont tend to get as much caravan traffic as the ones in the middle keep that in mind also.

Workshop is worthless... Unless you want constant income of fame, from trade perk. Which give you like 5 fame per day per workshop. Then it become somewhat profitable.
For money part trading is much easier. Or even better exploit smithing.

Sanala has 3 grain villages, so great place to build a Brewery.
A town with high prosperity, reliable resource and out of the way of your future war efforts.
I´d prefer Jaculan from Vlandia. To make Olive thing.
Started a new campaign after some time not playing, so not really up to speed what is considered a good income from workshops under the current version.
I have 3 workshops right now income per workshop is between 100 and 200, is that considered ok right now?
I just slap wool weavers in every Khuzait city except Makeb, since it's constantly sacked by the Empire. Each workshop nets between 200-300+, which is better than the 100-200ish I get for carefully placing appropriate workshops in cities with 3 of the same resource.
i have all 3 workshops in Varcheg, I produce wine oil and pottery, the materials for that i buy in other towns and then sell them in Varcheg, the good thing about this method is the constant demand for grapes olives and clay raises the cost of those goods in the town which allows me to buy them cheap somewhere and sell them even higher in Varcheg, also since Varcheg is my own city I can allways buy wine, oil and pottery cheap there which i can sell in the nearby towns. I usually carry around 500+ olives grapes and clay every time i return to that city. The total income from the increased demand for the clay grapes and olives + the workshop income gives me alot of money.
If you want low maintenance high income workshops then go for wool weavers in khuzait lands
Pravend in the Vlandian territory makes for a decent brewery. About 150-250g per day depending on the season.

Ocs hall is a good place for a pottery too, I usually get more than 200g per day.

As someone already said, Jacalun is good for an olive press.

The furthest north Khuzait town(bartakand or some such), I change the velvet weaver to a wool weaver and it does very well.
Okay, thanks for the tips guys. I had no idea that the location relative to trade routes made a big difference.

To clarify, this game at least TRIES to work based on an actual economic system. Its not perfect, but the laws of supply and demand do mostly apply.

But it doesn't. For instance a year ago you could make money buying things at the villages and selling them at the cities. Like in real world. Now EVERY thing is more expensive to buy at the village where it is produced. And this very thing is cheaper to buy in the nearest city.

Yeah, that's how its supposed to be. Of course a city is going to buy good from villages cheaper than the goods would actually be worth, ergo a village selling to a travelling merchant would try and get a better price than they would selling to the nearby city.

Try selling those goods to another city, many others will offer much better prices if they do not have a native supply.
