Leveling up crossbow skill, how can it be done?
So when I started my game I did put a tiny bit of resources in crossbows so I started at level 15 the issue is that I only managed to raise it to level 16 because I grabbed a dead soldier's one during a siege and used it. I've yet to find a single crossbow I could equip. Did I just waste a bunch of focus points? :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

that seems to be the only way if you dont find a crossbow you can equip.

Go to Vlandia. Do practice fights in any Vlandian town arena. There is a good chance that you spawn with a Crossbow. Use that to level your Crossbow skill. If you dont spawn with a crossbow, just exit and rejoin until you have one. Got from 17 Crossbow to 58 in an hour.

hire a mercenary crossbowman (peasent-watchmen-crossbowman) place him on top of the party, equip a ranged weapon, go to a hideout, allow free fire, shoot your crossbowman (high chance of wounding instead of killing) grab his crossbow and bolts, try not to die :)

There is a guide on yoUTube But its for early versions.

In a bandit hideout mission bring corssbowmen units.
Kill one of your own men. Take his crossbow and ammo.
- using a weapon picked up in battles ignores the prerequisite.
Kill all the enemies. Rinse repeat until you have the base 20 skill.
It's faster than tournaments since they nerfed the xp we get from them in e.1.0.7

No clue if this was nerfed in e.1.0.7 , sorry. Have not tested it in this version.

I did that for a bit, I can finally equip crossbows. It would be a lot simpler if you could just get a light crossbow.

Arena practice doesn´t seem to give any weapon xp.

it does give xp, not lots and lots - so you can level from say 5 to maybe 20 pretty quickly, not great after that

I'm sure along with the many game items still locked away, the hunting crossbow will some day make it's return.
