Trade XP is based off the profit obtained from selling.
1) You get 0 renown, hard AF to reach clan lvl 3 if you mostly trade
2) You do not level it unless manually trading goods in bulk
3) No high trade skill NPCs that I have seen
Seems too hard, my "party" is slow as well
This could explain why I wasn't able to gain exp a few times
Not my case anymore, so I haven't much more to add, thanks all the same though
I'll try, i hope those price ranges are correct
It was my mistake to use my focus points on trade, yeah sh*t happens
Are you saying that these things do not happen to you?
Trading is such a broken POS mechanic at the moment.
1) You get 0 renown, hard AF to reach clan lvl 3 if you mostly trade
2) You do not level it unless manually trading goods in bulk
3) No high trade skill NPCs that I have seen
I still get 0 renown for trading, only get it for quests, combat, etc... trading, caravans and shops are not raising my renown, you know, the thing that increases clan rank... I have been stuck at 2 for half a day, real time.
The only way to level trade well is through large profits, or large bulk buy/sell. Did you find a way around this?
I have yet to see an NPC in game that has Trade as skill sets... am I wrong?
Today's patch added a trade skill companion

1. Don't be in any faction
2. Buy a bunch of very cheap food (I usually go for fish at 9-10 and olives at 13-15)
3. Find a town that is under siege (might take some time, but its worth it)
4. Wait until siege is done (or abandoned, doesn't really matter if it was long enough)
5. Sell food. Town has no food at all and prices are very high.
(Caravans buy at the same prices as villages in the region, they charge more if you want to buy from them though.)
Also if you buy out the stock of whatever you are selling from the town before dumping it on a caravan you get a better price.
(if the caravan runs out of money, finish the trade then talk to them again - they get all their money back instantly!)
I'll try this right away
You can intereact with caravans? :D
If only the companions were where they said they are via the in-game encyclopedia. I almost always arrive at the same town they say they are currently in, and a different person is there lol. At least they added one, finally, now if they could just correct the renown issue.
Don't. I did some testing today and found out that food is not really worth it. Trade exp depends on how much money you make from a deal and not how many times more is price at what you seel. For example, if you buy a cow for 150 and sell it for 200, you'll get more exp than if you buy fish for 9 and sell for 30.
I tried going in a circle selling cows and fur (also cotton and dates, mostly because it's on my way anyway), and it was much faster than dealing with food and sieges.
Here is a route:
1. Start near Omor and go trough Sturgia territory towards Khusait.
2. Buy cows (<=150) and fur (<=100) from villages and towns.
3. When you reach Khuzait go through a border of Empire territory towards Aserai.
4. Grab cotton on your way (<=50).
5. Go through Aserai territory and sell your goods.
6. I usually sell like that: cows >= 250, fur >= 150, cotton >= 70.
7. Grab some dates (<=50).
8. Go to Omor, sell some dates on your way there or while doing next lap (>=70).
The lowest price I've seen for cows is 89 and the highest is 460.
And check caravans on your way from time to time. Prices for cows in towns deteriorate very fast when you sell, so if you have a lot of them, it's better to sell to caravans, if they offer a decent price.
