Can't defeat the empire
My main quest at the moment has me defeating the empire. At first it was bring the empire kingdoms down to less than 4 towns. I did that, and in fact they have no towns and no castles at all.

I have now been hunting down every single last one of the individual lords and ladies and at first I was defeating them in battle, and then keeping them prisoner until they bribed their way out automatically.

But then they would just auto respawn with a 50 - 75 man strong army after they bribed out instantly. I understand that this was done to make it so that they wouldn't die to bandits imediately, but it makes it impossible to defeat them now for the main quest.

What I am now doing, is literally executing every single noble of the empire clans in order to wipe them out. For the northern empire I have like 5 - 6 more to kill, all the other nobles of the other empires were wiped out in this manner and it destroyed my character's honor, but im trying to complete this darn thing and it's been the only way to do it so far.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing or similar?

Cause my war progress on the northern empire got as high as 97% before they started spawning in more troops. Now I am at like 83% with 6 nobles or so left to assassinate, and they have a strength of 36 at the moment, with no holdings.

Drakedge Apr 7, 2020 @ 12:41am
like i said in my post, that's what i have been doing now. But if it doesn't work when im finished executing all of them, then im at a loss as to it.

I really want to know to! Do you have any advise on what to do for troops you turn? I am finding that they desert me but I have no idea how to improve relations once they are in my kingdom...

dont put them in dungeons, keep them in your party they can't escape as fast as they can buy themselves out? other than that idk dude, there is still a LOT of balancing around faction mechanics like this that need a rework... like a : "they arent allowed to be ransomed at all" flag you can set as a kingdom modifier to vote on...

Are you in a faction? I chose the restore the empire route so I don't know about your side of the quest, but if you joined a faction or started your own you can talk to the empire lords assuming your army is bigger than theirs and try to recruit them to your faction. You can't do this with the ruling clan of course. You may need to barter some of the times. You can save eqipment looted from fights for bartering. Save before talking to each lord and trying this in case you need to reload.

Yeah I tried that initially, sadly executing them seems to be the only solution so far that's been reducing their numbers, the other two empire factions are completely wiped out and I have been slowly working on the northern empire. But now my character is known as a butcher and i have -2 honor and everyone hates me... but i am doing it as an experiment at this point to see if it is even possible to complete the quest.

They were supposed to have disolved into other factions when they lost all their towns and fiefs. In another play through I was doing where I supported another faction, that's what happened to all but one empire faction, then i ran into the same problem I have now, where I couldn't finish them off even though they had no holdings.

I founded my own kingdom, and i was converting lords from the falling empire factions over to my kingdom, but they all leave within a couple days, and i dunno how to keep them. Though having them around would be nice so that I don't have to chase everything with my one army.

In this play through I chose to start my own kingdom to see how that works. I did recruit some lords into my kingdom but they leave almost as quickly as they join. So that isn't really the route to go. (in the present build of the game)

The last dude left alive of the northern empire aside from Vasylops. The latter of whom can't be executed as it crashes the game everytime I try. This last dude here is stuck in a spot that I can't get to, so that's the end of the campaign.

I can't finish off the northern empire for the quest. They have 2 nobles left, and all others I have executed, which has destroyed my reputation in the game and I can not get anyone to join my kingdom.

I hope they fix this.

SOOOO, i just get the same problem, u need to be alone in you party, then teleport with cheats as close as possible,
then speed up the game. he will try to kill you and now just kill him
this is 100% a current bug. if you capture all of south / north or eastern kingdoms you will not be able to beat the game if you did it prematurely you have to do it when the umm game wants you too.i hope this is patched soon.

So this means that for the quest to begin the decline of the empire you would have to leave exactly one settlement per empire faction and hope that none of the other factions kill it until there are 4 empire owned settlements left?

Will this help to complete this quest?
I got this problem with north empire too, but when it reaches 100% in quest, nothing happens. Dunno what to do here.

This has happened in my game too, though not with the empire faction. I actually killed them off and finished both quests. I currently own the entire eastern and south of the map. I've executed nearly every noble in the game. However a couple remaining nobles are now stuck in areas I can't even reach, and they can't move either. So GG, can't finish executing people

my game just gave me the defeat empire quest after getting empire down to four towns and now the North and Western empire which both had no troops or towns previously now each have +15,000 soldiers out of nowhere. I'm Vlandian and we have 9,000 troops and are going to go against more than 30,000. It's hard to believe we are going to do anything, but get steamrolled and its really disheartening.
Badger BrownCoat Apr 23, 2020 @ 6:30am
we've all seen this - or versions of this, sirs :
the captured lords escaping, re forming armies, an endless wave -
at least they no longer 'spawn in' with a band of elite troops as a retinue as they did before
( see the OP )-
or i should say "as much so"
- even with " death" on, I'm yet to see any- and unless you're using prisoners don't escape easily mods, prisoners will escape or you'l hear the ransom coins. "ka ching" almost every day.
You can execute them- but don't need to to complete the quests.

It's ok though, once you break their main army, those troops are hard to replace ( now ) -
and take their settlements, you're fine.
They won't admit it but you've defeated them- they're just partisan bandits now.

Your game gave you?
You mean- you agreed with the plotter to destroy the empire...
and it gave you a destroy the empire quest?
The guy who gave you that quest : Arzargos
doesn't he sound alot like ARMINIUS ?
After the ambush at Tutenburg, how did that *go* for him?

Familiar with the "three kingdoms" of chinese history ( and alot of fiction ) ?
