AION Free-to-Play

What Happened...?
Just come back after a break of around 5 months... All my quests... Altgard, Morheim.... Everything gone. The thing that attracted me to the game in the first place, flying, is now rendered almost useless, and the crafting skills i spent so long mastering have gone. What happened and why?? :steamsad:

they decided to turn Aion into a mobile game.

i had the same reaction. It looks like what they did is
-- nerf all the characters so they could add levels 70-80 to get back what just got nerf-ed away from you.
-- remove crafting, which sucks if you were a master. Potions were really helpful
-- remove the start up areas.
-- removed 55 instance dungeons.

the list is here:

I dunno. I doubt that I will invest the time to figure it all out.

I thought the changes were mostly additive, with some modifications.

I guess, they decided to gut the game like a fish.

It's such a shame, like I get they need to keep updating with new content. But to remove so much... and an MMORPG without crafting just isn't right imo

I have had this game since the beta stage and have taken little breaks ever once in a while. Was gone a year this past time and came back a few weeks ago. Was really happy with the how game was running and was falling in love with it again and then this updated comes and now the main part of the game is just about leveling up. There is no real game play, no grinding, no PVE really at all. Its gone instead you create a charactor and in 5 hours you are level 45 or higher. You only get a few quest and they leave out huge chunks of the map. So what is the point in having a beautiful map if you don't get to explore it because quest are simple for leveling up. You cant get kinah at all, with less quest and no reason to grind the quest you do get give you hardly anything. As other threads have said my new charactor at level 32 have 50000 kinah that is it. Usally when you are level 30 you have at least 1mil in kinah. I am not a PVP person and loved the PVE aspect of this game. I am very sad that this is what it has turned into.

@chaosagm exactly, places like Altgard and Morheim were stunning, and I'm the same, the PVE was fine how it was, half the fun is gradually becoming stronger, not going from 1-50 in a few hours!

Returned to this game, only to find out this... well, at least uninstall will be much quicker than download.

I stil dont understand why people love exping lol?whats so fun about it?The END GAME in evry game its at the end of level.Until max level on evry mmorpg or game you dont do ♥♥♥♥.

For example WOW..exping is garbage and boring.Endgame is fun.KUF2 boring as hell to exp endgame fun.Wtf is wrong with people??????They really love to waste ..months to get to max lv and to really start the game.WHY??

One word, at least in my case: immersion.
Not all people enjoy just getting top level and doing end game content. Some of us want to have that feeling of accomplishment, of climbing from bottom to the peak.
I for example don't understand what's so great about going from beginning to endgame in few days with little to no effort :/

Because...you dont do nothing at low level?Maybe im stupid but people like you i dont understand them.Whats so fun exping??When the game starts at max level??I dont get it.

You just do quests..get lvl and thats it.Even in the past was the same. But you were exping sooo mutch slower. And you wouldnt do nothing until max lv.Dungeons pvp/pve was always at max level.Thats where game starts.

So i dunno wth people see in "exping" to reach max lvl and then start the game.I REALLY DONT GET IT.There is nothing to do until max LVL..

I-M-M-E-R-S-I-O-N

Story of certain locations, their lore, exploring them to the brim - either out of curiosity or in search for materials for crafting - doing quests, experience story of game itself as it was at the beggining and seeing how it developed, testing new abbilities as you get new ones, etc.
Hell, even damn feeling of getting stronger and feeling of accomplishment, when you finally reach top level. Sure, they could quicken leveling and I wouldn't complain, but not this much.

And WHY cut out most of content that there was before top level?
I want to remind you, that sooner or later, new content will be added and level cap will be raised. So should they removed all that was in patch before, because it's not max level content?

Im sorry but there is no "story"on old maps. Its the campaign that you have it now too.Actually the story is better now then before. Now is "SIMPLIFIED".Instead of having 100 quest on the map and do only 30..And spend 7 hours for 10 lvl and gain nothing.

And right now maybe you didnt understand but at the moment you reach max lvl doesnt mean you reached endgame...At max level game starts. That was before too.Until lv "60" in older patch 3.0 you didnt do nothing important. You couldnt farm kinah neither gear.It was simply wasting time around the map.

And in the past there were 10000 skills and 50% of them you wouldnt even use.Now is better. And why people need all those map..ALTGARD??What for??Doing 10 lvl and then dissapear from there.Should i remaind you that in old patches campaigns were hard to do?Most of the campaigns you wouldnt neither do it.You would repeat same quest like a BOT to gain lv.What fun is that????.Now you must do campaign 100% to see the story.

So again i have no idea wtf you people see in old patch. In old patches the only good think was "SCROOLS".And thats it.Only that.Becuse new transform is pretty dumb i agree.

No story on the old maps? Excuse me? As someone who also plays/played for immersion reasons, I can tell you that there WERE stories! Lots of quests added some pretty neat worldbuilding to Atreia; for example, if you read the quests of NPCs, you could for example find out that in Asmodae, women used to be banned from joining the Ulgorn raiders. This changed when Ulgorn himself fathered a daughter. Or the whole storyline of the Lepharists, who believed in the coming of the 13th Empyreal Lord. Not to mention the whole Elyos storyline of retrieving your lost memories.

Really, saying there is no "story" on old maps kind of makes me indignant.

Well, a RPG means you're going to develop your character, that you will start at low level and level up. Many people (like myself) enjoys a slowly, more immersive experience. Others just want to be lvl cap and start doing end game (not much of a rpg in this, but whatever). Making it easier to level up is like killing the game to some... while it's improvement to others. Just personal preferences, nothing to "understand", if you don't like to lvl up, to quest, to get to know the lore... if you just like the end game content, you'll never understand simply because it's not what pleases you.

``develop your character`` never heard that before in 7.0

you level from 1 to cap in a couple hours
and from there its an endless grind for armor :D
before 7.0 and those stupid ultimate legendary and ancient gears
there was more of the developing of your character part then an endless grind
now its not wourth playing anymore exept PvP
