what is the gold pack?

Should I buy a gold pack? or I can play without problem for free. What benefits I gonna get if I buy it?

My question related to this is how many of these features will carry over and for how long.
Ex, It says that you get a 30 day suspension of all starter limitations and it unlocks 8 of the character slots. What I want to know is are these two types of things linked or not? Will I only get the extra 8 slots unlocked for the time i have the gold pack or will they remain unlocked for me because I purchased it. I don't want to get something that will give me some slots, make characters I like, and then not be able to get back to the game till the day after the pack expires and I loose a lot of my characters and time because the timer on the pack ran out.

The way it is worded indicates that it will unlock the 8 character slots but doesn't explain what that entails. Do they become unlocked till the pack runs out and then re-lock letting you keep the characters you made in those slots? Will they delete the characters that were in those slots when the 30 days is up? Will the 8 slots be permanently unlocked so I can make the characters? Are the 8 slots provided restricted to one server or is it 8 slots to use across the servers only giving me a total of 8 characters I can make wherever I want them or does it open up 8 slots on all the servers I have access to?

Why does Aion like to explain things in the simplest way possible so that It doesn't actually explain anything, but instead raises more questions that it won't answer.

8 character slots for each server as long you have the gold pack

Alright, making headway as this answers a portion of my question but not all of it. Based on your answer, when the gold pack runs out it will re-lock the 8 extra slots. What happens to the characters in those slots? Do they become locked preventing me from using them, do I keep them but can't make more, or do they get deleted?

You keep the characters and can use them, just can't make any more.
And it's actually 11 characters per account now, not 8 per server.
