I figure you need to work on gaining and keeping the trust with the new group as you've got off to a rought start with them. Kenny won't hold that one little choice against you. In fact he comes to sit with Clem anyways. I didn;t support Kenny 100% as Lee but he still had a solid friendship with him. You can get away with not siding with Kenny *every* time as long as you just make it up to him in the next conversation or situation where he needs backing up. Ultimately there is already a history of trust and good-will with Kenny. You don't have that with new group yet.
