Ghostable?
I love stealth games - particularly when they allow for ghosting the missions.

Is IV2 that way? Can most to all of the missions be solved while not killing? Or are lots of kills basically required, and the stealth is a "tactical set-up" to prepare for them?

TIA!

Explosive Squad games just posted the next upcoming update Version 1.1 for intravenous 2 where there adding Beanbag rounds for shotguns and rubber bullets for all weapons for Non-lethal take downs, the game is definitely gonna have a no killing option within the game, it already has suppressors within the game, and Choke holds, now there adding rubber bullets and beanbags, when you first load the game up, there's a notice stating that intravenous 2 has inspiration from Dishonored 1 & 2 and if you've played those games, you'll know that you can play through the entire game doing non-lethal take downs.

So yeah, it's definitely happening.

You can full stealth basically all missions, or pretty close to it. Some missions you cannot because you're like escorting someone out of a compound or something where stealth becomes much harder but usually you can full ghost.

Yeah... but you gotta do a choke hold throw out the entire game for ghosting... it doesn't have the Non-lethal beanbags or rubber bullets... which makes sense :)

So when Version 1.1 comes out, you get to take down an enemy without closing in on them to do a choke hold. That's actually very similar to dishonored's games, because that what you did when you played those games.

Thanks for the replies :)

I've played the Dishonored's (including the "Death of.." title). Yes, very, very "stealth'able" titles.

Also have played these games that are about stealth or have a robust stealth implementation:

Arcanum. Underrail. Invisible Inc. Both Styx's. Several of the Deux Ex'es. All of the Fallout's from FO1 thru NV (FO4 is in my queue). All the Thief's, including The Dark Mod.

(Just to mention a few that come right to mind).

It sounds like IV2 (and maybe IV1) would be worth checking out. Wonder how long before that 1.1 comes out...

Will be considering...

Thanks!

have you actually played the game? there are already tranquilizer darts for long range pacification, as well as other methods for subduing people. you can pretty much always do no kill runs if you have the patience, but your character will still be murdering people in the storyline.

To elaborate on the non-lethal options further, the following are all in the game as of right now:

- tranquilizer rifle
- pneumatic launcher that fires different types of non-lethal projectiles
- taser
- sleeping gas grenades
- flashbangs
- taser mines

AND on top of that you can also always choke out anyone you manage to sneak up on OR knock them out with a single melee hit, regardless of if you're unarmed or wielding an otherwise lethal weapon (only exception being the knife).
Knocking enemies out with melee, instead of slowly choking them, is slightly louder, but way faster.

Lastly, there are also various utility items, that don't kill or pacify enemies, but rather knock out lights or cause distractions, meaning you have plenty of options to even leave the enemies entirely untouched.

The beanbag shotgun shells and (maybe, possibly, but not confirmed) rubber bullets that'll be added with 1.1 will expand your options even further, but aren't necessary just to play pacifist.

That right there is the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Get in. Complete the objectives. Maybe explore (depends on the game). Get out. No one there the wiser.

I'm not really so good that I can completely ghost in games where you can, but most of the time I can get away with an NPC "catching me out of the corner of their eye" and looking around suspiciously, but not getting a good look at me (and subsequently them giving up and returning to un-alerted).

There are usually some "escort the NPC safely" (often the worst ones for that kind of gameplay) or "kill a specific target" type of missions. Those may throw a bit of a wrench into that type of gameplay; but if there are not many of them I don't mind.

I do like it when you get a kill target, that; maybe later; perhaps during the mission, you discover a non-lethal way to take them out. Many of the games I mentioned above have some quests like that. :)

I know you've asked the question about this game in particular, but you absolutely should try Metal Gear Solid V if you haven't. That's like everything you've described.

Not gonna lie, ghosting is the most effective(not fun) way to finish the game, basically every interactions between you and NPC are very risky.

Yes

ghosting is perfectly good and fun, generally harder than avoiding knockouts/stealth kills though. for the most part theres no inherent rewards for ghosting and it may make it hard to explore many parts of the map

The best reward for ghosting is "no trouble". Imagine spending 10 mins walking in shadows, taking down only one guy then the enemies starts searching you.

avoiding trouble is usually best done with a mixture of sneaking past enemies & taking down enemies
seeking to "ghost" which is basically avoid knocking out enemies or any suspicious activity will make things a lot harder on average. as OP described, he wanted to play without taking down foes

It's inspired by Splinter Cell and has stats for all the usual ghosting violations including enemies distracted by noise or suspicious sounds. So it wants you to take your best shot at it and will help you tally if you made the cut.

Now I haven't finished this one, but IV1 did have a couple of Conviction style levels where the enemies are hunting you or you had to deal with enemies to win, but you could still do those Panther style, even nonlethally if you chose, but outside of those the game was perfectly fine with you being in and out quietly. At a minimum, most levels you should have a really good chance of perfect ghosting.

I'm sure I would like that game. I played one of the earlier ones - whichever one came with the PlayStation I bought around 2007 (PS3 or PS4 I can't recall - and it's been gone for years now). I barely remember it, but I do recall being able mostly ghost many of the missions.

But, alas, I see that MGS-V has Denuvo DRM - which I won't ever allow on my PC. Hopefully one day they'll drop that. Then I'll be able to give it a shot. Thanks for the recommendation. :)

Ahh, I forgot to mention SC. I've played several of them, but it's been quite awhile and I don't recall which ones. Somewhere in boxes I have them on CD or DVD. I think I have the first one on GOG. Need to check it out again. Very fun and good series. :)
