Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core

Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core

So, this is just dwarven GTFO with roguelike elements?
It's cool I guess but idk if it's for me? Guess we'll see.

It sucks that I've been earning all of these cosmetics for a game that won't have anything new to do for a year, though. Even CSGO2 figured out how to bring those over. Now there's two other dwarf games where I can't use them.

What makes this similar to GTFO, though? Some of the environments on the screenshots?

It does seem like a different game, not mechanically related to DRG. Doesn't seem like a sequel either. I don't think they're getting rid of DRG, but rather expanding the IP. Doesn't seem like a OW2 situation either, so I don't see why data sharing between this and DRG would be necessary.

It'd be nice if this was an expansion to DRG tho. Can't say I care much for the roguelite elements, but the permise seems interesting.

The main reason I mention porting the cosmetics is, in this case, they've been using all of the same models for dwarves this entire time. They've only ever had to design outfits and beards for one character model for years.

This is nothing like GTFO. Unless you mean a roguelike, which I dont think GTFO even is?

But we don't know if they'll use other models for this one. We have too little to go by to make such assumptions just yet. We don't even know if this game will be as much of a live service as DRG.

Yeah, it doesn't really look like GTFO. I think there's one screenshot that looks similar to a very early area in GTFO, but that's about it.

From the store page, I'm getting the impression that they're trying the Back 4 Blood approach to a L4D-like. That's kind of what GTFO is, but it's also so much its own thing that comparing L4D-like games to GTFO can be silly.

I'm hoping for character creation; change eyes/face/nose/ears/etc a little bit; and a more paper-doll approach to customizing your armor for flexible customization.

So this is like Borderlands, but roguelite? Cuz that's kind of what Gunfire Reborn is.

Maybe we should wait for them to tell us more before we make assumptions based on a description and a handful of screenshots that don't represent the final product?

But Borderlands is a looter shooter in a set environment that isn't randomized, only the drops are. The Gunfire Reborn mentions make more sense I guess. It does look stage based though, since it looks like there's no space rig so there has to be something like stage entrances/exits or elevators because it wouldn't really make sense otherwise.

What I mean is that Gunfire Reborn is similar to Borderlands, but it's a roguelite.

There isn't a space rig, but there's a space ship. I think everyone can agree that this definitely doesn't look like an extraction shooter, though.

That's besides the point. These comparisons mean very little when all we know about the game is that it'll be a co-op roguelite with an upgrade system similar to the one in Back 4 Blood, which we can see on the store page. That's it. Waiting for more information is the best anyone can do at this point.
