It does seem like a different game, not mechanically related to DRG. Doesn't seem like a sequel either. I don't think they're getting rid of DRG, but rather expanding the IP. Doesn't seem like a OW2 situation either, so I don't see why data sharing between this and DRG would be necessary.
It'd be nice if this was an expansion to DRG tho. Can't say I care much for the roguelite elements, but the permise seems interesting.
Yeah, it doesn't really look like GTFO. I think there's one screenshot that looks similar to a very early area in GTFO, but that's about it.
From the store page, I'm getting the impression that they're trying the Back 4 Blood approach to a L4D-like. That's kind of what GTFO is, but it's also so much its own thing that comparing L4D-like games to GTFO can be silly.
Maybe we should wait for them to tell us more before we make assumptions based on a description and a handful of screenshots that don't represent the final product?
There isn't a space rig, but there's a space ship. I think everyone can agree that this definitely doesn't look like an extraction shooter, though.
That's besides the point. These comparisons mean very little when all we know about the game is that it'll be a co-op roguelite with an upgrade system similar to the one in Back 4 Blood, which we can see on the store page. That's it. Waiting for more information is the best anyone can do at this point.
