Bad Story! (SPOILERS)
There, now that I have your attention, can someone explain to me the story, because I played this when it came out a low framerate disgusting mess on the Vita and the story good or bad ending, made no sense at all. So why is everyone gushing over this terrible entry into the franchise now like it shouldn't have any bad reviews. Poor performance, low replayability, and short storyline(less than 8hrs at best) aside, can someone tell me why they think the story made sense?

If you disagree, answer my question, I'm not being a disagreeable ass just trying to start something. Lol. I genuinely want an explanation of this game's storyline, if it makes sense and I just didn't get it or I missed something I will shut up. I just don't understand why people buying this game keep gushing over it.

Reviews aren't actually that great, at least not across the board. IGN gave it a 5.2, and on Metacritic its 59/66. Pretty low considering that all the other AC titles score mid 80s or higher on Metacritic. Also many of those critical reviews actually go into the technical issues with this title that were not resolved from Vita to the HD release.

For a $20 game its definitely not bad though. I definitely got 20/60 or at least a third of the enjoyment and playtime compared to a full AC game. So personally I'm happy with it but then again I didn't have high expectations for this to begin with.

I would tend to agree though that the writing is kind of weak in this one. Aveline is definitely an intriguing character but you don't really go through her character development, instead you are sort of thrust into the middle or tail-end of her career it seems. Every other protagonist except maybe Altair, you really get a since of growth, development, and on some level form a connection with that character over time. In this one, Aveline is already an established assassin, you never learn about her personal motivations, nor those of others like her stepmother, mentor, etc....

Well said, I guess I should have elaborated more. That is a lot of what I was confused about, it's like they leave a lot of things to speculation(with Aveline's character), which maybe they did on purpose or maybe not. Either way I was dissapointed with the final product, and was just surprised to see reviews on here people saying they loved it. O.o

It's a port, which means it is the same game, scaled up resolution to run on PC and made to work here. This is the appropriate place to discuss this.

No need to be a ♥♥♥♥. :P I wasn't.

The story is pretty much about Aveline losing her mother, being trained by her mother's ex boyfriend to be an Assassin, and being manipulated by her stepmother into killing her own allies (which simply seems to have been out of jealousy and the simple desire of acquiring the first civ tech for herself) and turning Aveline into a Templar, the story tries to make it look like it's really hard for Aveline to know which side is right but at the she pretty much decides to stick with the Assassins, seeing through her stepmother's intentions and all that.

The last thing that happens is that the First Civ disk had a message for Aveline (well, at least it would seem so) speaking about Eve and the War of generations, none of that is really clear, but my personal guess is that the ending was perhaps hinting at more female main characters to come, descendants of Eve, who would fight Juno across many generations.

I agree the story is pretty bad though, it's basicly bad guys vs good guys, trying to throw some grey areas here and there but those ideas eventually develop into poorly explained evil plots made to look like good intentions. Perhaps the only real interesting thing I found was Aveline herself, since she does go from point A to point B, but even then, it's not much of a journey.

That's what I pretty much got out of it so I don't think I am missing anything, and yeah, if the game functions properly the machete and blowgun are pretty cool, but everything else might as well be AC3(mechanics-wise). So not trying to bash too much on the story but it felt pretty weak for an AC game that I've come to expect so much more from.

It would be different if it was a different IP but there is a standard that has already been set w these games and I pretty much play them for the story and the wicked awesome assassinations, so I was just surprised to see people not just content, but overjoyed with this game.

I guess I should have checked out ALL the reviews before just assuming everyone had the same sentiment here. XD Seems there are just as many people who feel the way I did about the game.

Well the story was written around the handheld PS Vita and its very hard to do depth on a system which has the power of a PS2. They concentrated more on gameplay and let the story slip (by the standards of full blown AC games) in order to allow the game to function properly.

Wikipedia usually has a summary of a game's plot. And if not that site, then I bet there's a wiki or something that will tell you everything if you have the time and aren't too lazy to actually read stuff.

i disagree to all who think this is bad i find it the best AC in the series
considering that AC 3 was just bad in anyway with the unending spawning madness of the AI

and AC4 having a bit too much boat altought the aspect is fun and deffinitly not bad
i found AC1-2 brotherhood and revelations just too much uhhm well...

meh story of AC is always good but i just found these named above idk bad when it comes too combat and theme off the area and characters

i found black flag interesting but also as said above too much boat and too less city or wilderniss to wonder around

besides i found liberations theme very enjoyable the story is in my opinion just epic especially the ending

and i found the combat and city enviroment just very cool
sure there is a lack of somethings that were in AC3 and black flag
but when it comes too gameplay and story i find liberation the most enjoyable off them all

and for a game with a price tag like this i cant consider the game bad in almost anyway
one thing that bothers me that is that some bugs from the vita version still werent fixed and that is something they could have worked on but meh its not gamebreaking or anything

im sure ill be playing liberations for a long time
maybe im the only one exciting enought like this but this is just the only AC game that really caught me

hope future AC will do this aswell but we have too wait and let time learn us

Lol, I see what you mean with the Ezio generation getting a bit old, I don't even remember the ending to Revelations suffice it to say I remember it was mostly CGI. However Brotherhood argueably had the most to do, from filling out your guild to doing all the side quests, and the guild was my favorite part which means I am kind of biased for not particularly caring for the fact that they have left that aspect out for the past 3 games(including Liberation).

However the story just seemed to lack that impact that the others had(Revelations aside). And I didn't find myself caring about Aveline or her actions as I did with Ezio. Not to argue though, to each their own, if you enjoyed it that is great. And it's a good thing they dropped the price to 20, bc by the end of the game I was not happy having paid 40$ for the game.

I really just hope in AC 5(and most likely wtvr companion game on the Vita they make) that they bring back the guild system, or something very similar, like the pirates in AC4. Otherwise I don't see myself continuing the series for much longer. Which saddens me to say as after Brotherhood it was my favorite IP to date.
