Is the screen dark in the menu screens or just in game? Have you also tried changing the in game settings?
Can you please try these PC troubleshooting[support.ubi.com] steps to see if that helps.
- Ubisoft Support
it's only in the game, menu screen is totally fine.
I had increased Brightness setting, but it's still dark in-game.

I play on integrated intel graphics. This is a problem on PC and laptop. However, when I turn on the Nvidia video card on the laptop, everything displays normally.
All drivers are of the latest version.
How can this bug be fixed?
Thank you for translating.
It's strange that this issue seems to disappear when the Nvidia card on your laptop is used. We would not recommend playing with integrated graphics, as some aspects of the game may not work as intended unless working alongside certain graphics drivers.
Would you be able to tell us if you're also using a Nvidia card on your PC? If so, are your laptop and PC running the same driver version at the moment?
Many thanks.

Right now my PC doesn't have a discrete graphics card, so I'm forced to use integrated graphics from Intel. That being said, the rest of the Assassin's Creed games haven't had any problems, they all work PERFECTLY, but this game has this problem.
Hey there D.A.V, I completely understand. However, as the integrated graphics do not surpass our minimum requirements, I am afraid we will not be able to assist with this further, as it could be the factor causing the issue. Should you have further questions regarding this or anything else, please don't hesitate to let us know.

This is not a solution, this is an attempt to avoid the answer. Other games in the series also do not have integrated graphics in the minimum requirements, but they ALL work and look good.
Hello D.A.V,
When running on integrated graphics, while it isn't always a sure thing a game won't run, it is always a risk, as they just aren't powerful enough to run titles effectively.
The steps provided above are all we can offer in this scenario as your current setup isn't supported.
Sorry for the disappointment caused.

Hello,
I just bought this game, coz it was discounted and right after the "awakening from the bad dream", being on the roof and experiencing the same issue - dark screen.
Playing it on Intel UHD620.
Was trying to search for some solution, but didn't find much.
Hi,
It brings a confusion to the surface then, as I am able, even though on the lowest settings and still not running it totally smoothly, to run AC IV, which is newer and more demanding game than this game. So it honestly makes no sense to me, as well as to other people, surely, who have the same issue.
