Update 0.8.3 character controller rework

Hey everyone!
I've been working hard on improving Afallon, and I’m excited to share this update with you. It includes a big rework of the character controller, some new features, and a number of important bug fixes based on your feedback.

Major Changes
Complete Character Controller Rework
One of the most requested changes has been improving the way the character controls. I’ve taken that feedback seriously and reworked the system from the ground up to feel more like traditional MMO

controls:
Hold right mouse button to rotate your character.
Hold left mouse button to freely move the camera.
The cursor now stays visible at all times, but you can still toggle an aim mode by pressing "X".
You can now zoom all the way in for a first-person view! This should give you a fresh, immersive way to experience Afallon.
I’ve also removed depth of field since it didn’t seem to be well-received. Without it, the game should look a lot clearer and sharper.

New Feature : Adventure Guide
I’ve added a new UI panel called the Adventure Guide, which will serve as a central hub for important game information.
For now, the Adventure Guide displays two types of renown:

Quest Renown – Earned by completing quests.
Dungeon Renown – Earned by killing bosses in dungeons.
You can view your current renown levels in the Adventure Guide, and there’s a progress bar that fills up as you gain renown. Reaching certain milestones will reward you with gear, crafting materials, or potions.

In the future, I plan to expand the Adventure Guide to include:

A page for owned houses.
A list of discovered settlements (with fast travel options to those settlements).
A detailed dungeon page with information about the dungeons you’ve explored.

Subtitles
I’ve added subtitles for all voice lines in the game. Whether you prefer reading along or just want to make sure you don’t miss anything, subtitles should help improve the experience.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where two voice lines from the same character could play at the same time.
Fixed an issue where the game could freeze when loading into the world if your FPS was over 140. This happened because NPC spawners were updating per frame and trying to spawn NPCs before the terrain had fully loaded.
A few smaller bugs have been fixed as well to smooth things out.

What’s Next
I’m sharing some new screenshots of other areas in Afallon with this update, and over the next few months, I’ll be showing off more videos and providing in-depth updates as the early access launch gets closer.

i tried both LMB and RMB and they both just spin camera even though the tutorial says RMB turns character

Dev Update: Afallon Demo Reuploaded with Update 0.8.0

I'm excited to announce that the Afallon demo is live again with a brand-new update, version 0.8.0! Alongside a demo store page, this update focuses on improving your gameplay experience with some enhancements:

Download Size Halved: The demo now weighs in at 3.5 GB instead of 7 GB!
Faster Startup: Launch times have been reduced from 20 seconds to 12 seconds, so you can dive into the world of Afallon quicker than ever.
Improved Spell Descriptions: All spells now feature clearer, more informative descriptions to help you strategize effectively.
Quest Auto-Tracking: Quests are automatically tracked as soon as you accept them, so you’ll never lose your way.
Rain Performance Boost: Enjoy up to a 42% FPS improvement in rainy weather for smoother gameplay during storms.

I'm thrilled to bring you this exciting update on the ongoing development of Afallon! I have been working hard behind the scenes to enhance your experience and add fresh, immersive elements to the game. Here's what's new:

Complete UI Overhaul

I have revamped the user interface from the ground up to ensure it is more intuitive, visually appealing, and easy to navigate. Whether you're managing your inventory, tracking quests, or tweaking game settings, you’ll find the new UI to be a major improvement. You can now see your stats in the character panel.

Expanded Voice Acting & Cutscenes

To make your questing journey more engaging, i added new voice acting and cutscenes! Get ready to dive deeper into the world of Afallon and feel more connected to the characters and stories around you.

Experience from Exploration

Exploration is now more rewarding! Material gathering now grants experience points, and picking up items or finding hidden treasures scattered across the world will also earn you valuable XP. I've made exploration feel more fun, so get out there and start discovering!

Dynamic Loot Chests

Loot chests now scale with your character’s "item power"! As your item power increases, so will the visuals and the quality of rewards you find in chests. The world of Afallon responds dynamically to your progress, offering a more rewarding adventure with each step forward.

Roguelite Challenge Stones & Dungeons

I've added a Roguelite element to Challenge Stones and dungeons. Inside, you’ll find randomized buffs ranging from common to legendary tiers. When you discover a buff, you’ll be presented with three random choices. Select carefully, as these buffs remain active as long as you’re inside the Challenge Stone or dungeon!

Sacrificial Altar: A New Way to Spend Corrupted Emeralds

Corrupted Emeralds, which can be found in chests and dungeons, can now be used at sacrificial altars scattered throughout the game world. The more emeralds you sacrifice, the better the loot you can choose from! Don't worry, if you’re low on emeralds, gold can also be used, but the rewards won't be as powerful as those from corrupted emeralds.

New Playable Races with Custom Character Creation screens

I'm introducing new playable races to make your adventure in Afallon even more personal! With the demo release, you will be able to create characters from three distinct races: Rimeborn, Gravebound, and Woodmere Folk. Each race comes with unique stat bonuses to enhance your gameplay.

Don’t Worry, I Haven’t Forgotten the Rest of Afallon!

While I’ve been focusing on updating the demo, I haven’t forgotten about the other parts of Afallon! I'm still hard at work on the entire game world, and I'm happy to share some pictures of other areas I’ve been developing.

Super impressed!

Not often some rando add in Facebook points me in the direction of a game I'd enjoy.... Have to say that I think this game is going to be a winner, it just needs to cook a little more. The biggest positive for me is that this feels and looks like an MMO but single player. It might not be appealing to some, everyone seems to like the online MMO but I've played so many and got burned out over the past 20 years since 2004 WoW, that I just don't care, I want to play solo and I want something that fits that "...

Things to fix.

The max blur is way to much in very high settings and its disorientating please dim that down. Second, Please have tracking quests show near where the area is.
