In my opinion one of the awesome things about roguelikes is how many of them are free and how unique they all are. If someone wants to make some money for all their effort, why not?

Indeed, especially as it gives them more motivation to keep developing it its a win-win situation for everyone.

Jumping in here just to underscore how ignorant, off-base, tactless, and wrong this foolish statement is...

I have to agree with you, this game is free from the website

Also the only game where you can rip someone's arm off and beat them with it.

I think there are a few games where you can do this. I know certainly in the old 90s PC action/adventure Bioforge you can beat an enemy with his own severed arm, but I can't remember how the arm was severed. I think it's already severed when you find him from him trying to escape, and there's an energy field that cuts it off or something.

Meh, I beat the final boss in Planescape: Torment with my own severed arm.

In Dwarf Fortress bugs are gorey. At some point in development the developer accidently set the melting point of dwarf fat too low and all his dwarfes melted.

Oblivion with mods lets you rape people to death and do stuff that is beyond your mind.

Yes. But there's insane mods for everything. People have made far creapier mods (that I won't talk about here) for Dwarf Fortress just by changing txt files a little bit.

Yeah. You probably do. It's pretty disturbing. People just talk about it like "Oh we don't talk about [insert mod here] anymore.".

In DCSS, My felid character sacrificed his own corpse to the berserker god.

Im not sure I've ever done anything more heavy metal in a video game.

That's awesome. I don't think you can do that in Dwarf Fortress (yet).

I'll also throw a vote for both of them - there is no contest between DCSS and ToME.
