How to Fix the Windows 10 Startup Freeze

Setting Windows 7 and Administrator mode on the two game executables fixed it for me:

- RIGHT-click on Guise of the Wolf in in your list of games, and select PROPERTIES.
- Select the LOCAL FILES tab, then BROWSE LOCAL FILES
- Open the GAME folder
- Set the two Guise of the Wolf files to Windows 7 and Run as Administrator compatibility mode:

- RIGHT click and select PROPERTIES
- Select the COMPATIBILITY tab.
- Check the box to run in COMPATIBILITY MODE, and set it to Windows 7.
- Check the box to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
- Click OK.

The game should launch properly now.

It does throw an error of sorts but just hitting OK doesn't seem to do any harm.

If you are referring to a window with a yellow bar asking if it is OK for the file to make changes to your computer, that is normal -- the "change" is using compatibility mode. It's a part of the Windows security system. Glad it worked for you.
