Announcement: New Community Patches for The Moon Project and Lost Souls

Hello everyone,

We are excited to announce the release of new community patches for The Moon Project (TMP) and Lost Souls (LS), developed by Inside Earth Operations (IEO). For updates on Escape From The Blue Planet (EFTBP), please visit the dedicated thread in the EFTBP forums.

Over the years, Inside Earth Operations has been committed to improving the Earth 2150 series, including EFTBP, TMP, and LS. Our community patches aim to address various issues that have arisen as the games have aged, while also introducing new quality-of-life features and balance adjustments. Since the last official update in 2005, the evolving landscape of operating systems, hardware, and drivers has introduced new challenges, making it difficult for many to enjoy these classic games. We're proud to say that our patches have resolved most, if not all, of these known issues.

Patch Versions

For TMP and LS, we are releasing two versions of the patch:

• 2.1.x.x: Based on the 2.1 version (2004) that comes with the game on Steam. Recommended for single-player gameplay.
  
• 2.2.x.x: Based on the 2.2 version (2005). Includes balance changes tailored for multiplayer games.

Key Features and Fixes

Our community patch includes a comprehensive list of fixes and enhancements. Here are some highlights:

• Resolved multiple bugs related to modern operating systems and hardware (e.g., F1/constructor crash, text input issues on Windows 11, various crashes to desktop).
  
• Achieved a significant performance boost (over 500%) on the D3D renderer.
  
• Adjusted GUI for widescreen support.
  
• Added mouse wheel support in various panels.
  
• Introduced new hotkeys and shortcuts.
  
• Implemented game stats recording.
  
• Integrated Discord rich presence integration.
  
• And many more improvements.
