Yeah, that's lousy when that happens. You just gotta keep attacking and hoping that the RNG Gods favor you.

It can be a bit more "grindy" than most modern CRPGs Chances are if something is knocking you out over and over, you need to level up or get better (or any) armor. Where are you and what's wrecking you?

Don't forget to "Radio in" after big fights, to gain levels and add points to skills/attributes. That can help MaxCon too. making you harder to kill and adding hit points. It's tough to reload or unjam weapons when you spend most of the fight with UNC in the status. LOL

actually, this is a condition specific to early levels of the game. very classic for WL1.

early baddies can hit hard enough to knock you out, but NOT hard enough to trigger a fatality seqence. (severe ... critical ... comatose). so if you bite off more than you can chew you end up in a situation where the baddies beat your team down and no one is able to recover long enough to fight back. and because they can't kill you, the fight goes straight into limbo. this happened a lot to newbies at the Ag Center and Old Mine.

the best answer is to ditch your pistols and go with brawling attacks. you'll do more damage and do it faster, preventing your enemies from surviving long enough to beat you down. brawling attacks also don't rely on ammo, so you don't get caught having to try and reload a clip while five bunnies are pounding you in the chest. class 2 armor or a good rifle also help - just run direct to the store in Quartz and burn a few bucks. even just one rifle will change your world.

in any event, enjoy limbo-world it while it lasts. it's not long before those baddies start swinging for 12+ hits that will drop your guys straight into coma-town.

dang! your post is almost a year old. are you still working the game? if you're hitting roadblocks or whatev, just give a holler. WL1 was also famous for being really hard to decipher. old-school trick: make your game near impossible to figure out, then offer $20 guidebooks for sale at local retailers near you! ($50 for the box, $20 for the guide ... and now you've got people grinding their teeth over $24.95 for a game ten times the size ..)

in any event, if you're still fightin' this game, i've heard that Fargo changed some of the mechanics, like nerfing organic skills growth on brawling. that being the case, you'll want to start your team with level 2 brawls across the board. then give your designated strongman level 3. that should be the break point that enables three attacks per turn. that plus high strength (17 or better) will turn your bruiser into a decent death machine. ....

USED to be, back in the day, that you could start with level 1 in brawls and by the time you finished the Ag Center everyone was buffed to 3 or 4.

i also gots dirty tricks & xploits that should still work, too, no matter what fixes Fargo decided to run ... if you're up for a bit of rule / game-bending. (some people are purists.)
