Are you automatically fired by the board if you don't make the specific season objective?

No, there are several factors, the Trust level of your Board is the result of those factors, its just at the End of the season it checks that and if Trust is to low, you get fired.

Missing your Goal will just lower the Trust at the end of the Season a bit more and may push you over the Line.

Would you elaborate for me what "the several factors" are that effect the Board's trust level.

you can look it up on the bord screen in your game. No need for me to explain.somewhere on the board Tab is a screen with the Trust. there are diffrent categories on the left of the screen, click on them or hover the mouse over them and you see what affects it from the last few races.

Somethings like being in debt, good or bad race results and so on should be shown.

What is not shown that you get a bonus from a Building, dont know the english translation, soemzhing like Board center on the last Tab of buildings, most upper left corner. it gives you x% Bonus to trust from good results.

So, slightly missing your targets in 1st year doesnt get you fired, but, constantly missing targets, that gets you fired.

I would imagine that it also depends on by how much you miss the goal. With Alpine I had to be 6th but I ended up 7th which wasn't an issue. It helped that the finances were good and that the performances since Barcelona were good.
