Well guess I'll pick this up since its on sale before the games get completely kicked off steam.
too bad, the game was given for free on epic store last week
They are doing everything they can to increase the life of the game. Now we can edit drivers and staff and schedule, so everyone can on their own make this new seasons grid even with the old liveries. And with creat a team…can add Cadillac and keep the game alive.
In this case, the best they can do is give the fans all the tools they can so that we can mod and develop it on our own. Many legendary games have lived for decades like this.
It's already proven too niche and seeing as Frontier paid for everything it's not within F1's remit to hand over any of the code or assets to a third party.
If Frontier have no alternative arrangement (eg paid DLC on this allegedly final game) a third party looking to take on a F1 Manager licensing deal afterwards would either need to acquire the code/assets from Frontier or completely start from scratch.
If there was going to be F1 Manager `25, we probably would not have received this update. I expect this update to help get whatever future sales they can until the next successor shows up.
I bought 22 and stopped playing it quickly, havent bought another title in the franchise since....they pretty much killed all trust from me after their behaviour with 22.
Pretty much this. Basically do what Codemasters are doing with WRC. Release an update for the new season each year with driver/team updates, track updates, rules etc and release it as paid DLC.
Initial sales numbers were good though, and showed that this type of game is more than capable of decent sales figures. Unfortunatly, it also had the problem of killing the trust of large parts of the fan base that bought into a shallow game that was full of bugs.
This is a case of loosing an audience they had rather than not finding one
No where has it ever been mentioned that the license was exclusive, but what was mentioned was the rights of F1 to pull the deal if sales numbers wern't up to scratch.
That means there's almost certainly a license available for 25 if anyone wants it. That however is never going to get taken up given how long it takes to make a game. And 25 was the last year of the license anyway as they only bought into a 4 year deal. So the license from 26 is available. Whether frontier still have the full exclusive rights to what they bought.
The code written by frontier is going to be thier IP, not FOM, FOM only own image rights. That's never going to be handed over to another game developer, and lets be honest here. We wouldn't want it to be. There's a reason this game has failed. Any new game would have to have far more depth.
The rights are available from FOM, not frontier.
There's a fair argument also to suggest that the f1 rights are too restrictive. The ultimate F1 management game is going to be one made without licenses but easily modable
Thats funny about complexity, I found I spent more time out of races with stuff to do and time waste in race too...I would hate to see more things to do in a game that's had too much micro managing in it to start with.
MM and other F1 titles were not graphically superior but their gui and mechanics were simple making it a much better game.
So what is with all the late updates and new fixes? , are they trying to squeeze the most sales since no more games are coming or are they just trying their best ? , i am just a skeptic with so many franchises which just come yearly and change nothing
