Car Development - too predictable?
Just wondering what people think about how this works, from briefly watching a few players on Youtube like NeroBax it seems if you know which parts to prioritise and which sliders to min/max you can take any team from back to front, pretty much regardless of staff and budget.

The result is predictable - you input A, you will always get B. Of course if it were that simple in real-life, you wouldn't end up with Mercedes going from dominating to scrapping for a couple of points.

I think there needs to be a random element to the outcomes, weighted by the talent of your staff. So there's a range of potential benefit (that even extends into the negative, more so when there are rule changes), to each development. The better your staff the higher the chance of it being a positive number and the better the chance of it being a big one, but there's still a chance you end up with Adrian Newey designing a milk float. That would also place a risk-reward element on maxing out sliders, if you hyper-focus on low-speed corners and that part of the research flops, then even if you roll high on the other sections it could be a net negative overall.

I have purposely avoided researching how to cheese the sliders, I'm trying to learn by playing and on instinct, and I hadn't even realised for half a season that you could research even if you had no wind-tunnel hours left, so I still have some catching up to do. But overall the game might be much improved if there was no guarantee that taking the 'correct' hyper-optimised action would always make your car significantly faster.

don't watch you tubers try to come out with the things yourself by trial and error you tubers literally ruined 90% of the games (and internet in general)

..... and further anyone promoting / playing this game for views/likes is just as complicate as Frontier for the complete ripoff this franchise has turned out to be.

I found this annoying since the 22 game. No matter what team you manage, no matter what staff and facilites you have, if you follows certain steps, you always get a winning car. Hopefully they will improve it after the bug fest is sorted out.

They won't, development is certainly a thing they won't be doing much about from the players side of things.

Changing part contributions to car performance gave me hope :)

Despite all the issues with the game, put the car development difficulty on hard and it's definitely pretty tough to cheese your way to the top of the grid.

Agreed.

And as a response to 'following youtubers', the game itself tells you the biggest impact that each component will give you.
And none of them actually do so. They blindly do things that make no sense, or follow the META they saw from someone else.
*Edit* and by that, I mean the 'META' is simply reduce the weight of all parts to the minimum allowed.
All the developers need to do is reduce the life time of parts such as chassis/sidepods (which are the longest lasting parts) and the META becomes less viable.

So ignore all that, and simply follow the information that the game advises and things will work out just fine.
