In these situations, it definitely helps you save ERS and use it efficiently to overtake or defend yes. Deploying or not. But never efficiently to have the best lap time possible.
I always use it in these situations. This button should even be available on the screen throughout the game, not just on this ERS screen. It works really good if you know what you're doing.
BA will always make you slower overall. As I mentioned in my other post, the goal isn't to be faster throughout the lap, but to have extra power at key overtaking points, whether you're defending or attacking.
Especially when defending. I don’t use it much for overtakes unless I need to save ERS, but for defense, it’s fantastic. Not only does it save ERS, but it uses it strategically to block overtakes. And it works brilliantly.
And you can actually use it in free air, which contradicts your second point. In fact, you should avoid using it when you're not on DRS range to other cars.
just to wrap it up, I use it a lot and it’s really efficient when you use it in the right way. But it’s only effective in very specific situations.
