Penalty for swapping components between FP3 and Q1

I had both drivers sent to the back of the grid for swapping Engine, Gearbox and Energy unit, even though it was only moving onto my 2nd of each.

The, uh, grid position doesn't matter going into Q1, you're going to be setting the grid position during qualifying itself.

Like did it actually say you got a penalty?

I just had the same thing happen. Swapped parts after FP3 and got a +20 spots grid penalty at the end of Q3. Since the game doesnt tell me what the penalty is for I assume the part change must be it.

Can it be, that you are over the engine limit and bought a new engine and used it for the first time?

Nope, I had 3 fresh engines in the pool, I’d moved onto my second, same with the ERS, moved onto 2 of 2, and gearbox 2 of 4

Exactly this, never said a thing when I swapped over at the end of FP3, then at the end of Q3 it applied the penalty

It is not allowed to change the ERS unit during a race weekend without a penalty.

If it’s within your allocation, before Q1, you can change whatever you want

I had this problem at the first race, before starting qualy I always swap the engine, ERS and gearbox. I did this aswell on the last games, never had the problem. Is it a game bug?

Can't say I've noticed this. I've done this once because O'Ward destroyed his PU in the second race weekend and I don't think he had a grid penalty. Or at least not for that I think. He did get one but him and Stroll both crashed at the same time so I assumed it was for causing that incident. I guess I'll find out in a moment after my current practice session is done, assuming he stays on track this time. I think he got a 10 place penalty but I switched all three components so I doubt that was the cause.

He didn't get a penalty so at least it's not a breaking parc ferme issue.

Let me clarify: The bug you are experiencing seems to be tied to the changing of the ERS system.

Same problem for me, first race, change 3 components (Engine, ERS, gearbox) BEFORE Q1 and got a 19 places penalty, i think is a bug or mistake, it shouldn't be a penalty

i had the same problem,got sent to the back of the grid,in f1 you can change what you want untill the cars enter parc ferme,so if you want to change the engine,gearbox etc at the end of q3 you can.

Hopefully that will get them to take a look.
