Has anyone noticed the confidence of your drivers is always so low in the race?
I've taken a look at this and to be honest i've determined that its mainly because the drivers lose so much when being overtaken but either don't gain it back when overtaking or just so minimal it doesn't do anything. This honestly pisses me off since I have both my drivers on a downward spiral and becoming 2 seconds slower than the rest of the grid with 13th best. its so frustrating to me and I hope other people agree with me on this.
I hope this is bugged and will be fixed

My drivers started off low, but they gradually regained their confidence while driving. Didn't your driver recover at all?

The drivers' confidence seems to be very malleable indeed (very drastic changes due to being overtaken once, for example), but this malleability is even stronger when the relationship between each driver and his race engineer is weak, so if you started a new team the relationship between its drivers and their respective engineers is new and that is why they are still in the red, after the first season this will give a good improvement, and this malleability will decrease and the driver's overall confidence will be better!

No they dont, they constantly lose due to being constantly re overtaken in drs trains, they dont regain enough when overtaking anyone

im in my second season and this is still a massive issue

Yeah the same here. Not too sure if it’s a bug but I do feel confidence gain is dramatically smaller than in 23. As I remember, it was much easier to maintain a purple confidence in 23, one overtake and a few defenses will do. But in 24 the best I get is blue confidence, and it’s very easy to drop to white, just after some normal fights in a DRS train.

It was a similar issue last year. It's much easier to lose confidence than gain it. I suppose it's fairly realistic but in a game it's very easy to get drivers into a negative spiral.

ive had oliver lose 9 seconds to 21st in the first 3 laps because he lost 5 positions on lap 1 due to confidence and a bad start (from 13th) he didnt have any issues with going off track

Another problem is that it the confidence issue during races isn't contextual. If, say, a Ferrari has a bad qualifying - perhaps caught out with a change in weather - and, say, a Sauber qualifies higher, should your driver be disappointed when the Ferrari goes past you in the race? I mean, be realistic here. The driver in the Sauber would fully expect it and not give a stuff. It's a glaring issue on what is an otherwise 'mostly' fun experience. I can't believe such a glaringly obvious flaw is still a thing.

I know, like why tf are you getting upset that the redbull is passing you on fresh tires when your in a really bad car, they arent in your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ league

The fact that the AI just burn their tyres off the race start also means you cant go an alternate strategy or risk losing all confidence. Why is my driver losing confidence getting passed by a car flogging some soft tyres when he is on hards going long? why do i lose confidence when cars that have pitted re-overtake me but i dont gain any from passing them while they're pitting? It needs major adjusting
Ive been having the same problem. I was swapping my drivers around back and forth to stay at the front of a DRS train but they just kept losing confidence. I also think its stupid how they lose so much confidence from being lapped

Hello guys,

You loose less more point when your driver has a high confidence with his race engineer.

This part of the gameplay should be better I agree.

Another issue I've found is their starting confidence resets if you load a save. I typically monitor the practice sessions so that my drivers actually get the best setups for them and so they get to 100% track acclimatization. And they usually get to 90%+ prep (due to part upgrades that they're getting used to) which should mean they always come back to high confidence. So I save after practice, close the game, go do other stuff, then come back and bam. All that confidence boosting is gone. Reset to smack dab in the middle. Which sucks when i get them both to 100% and they're in the top of high or bottom of very high.
