I'd advise you to man up and try to beat the game, what's the interest in walking through with eyes closed anyways?
They melee types take a little bit more effort and it pays to play them in a more hit and run style until you get the hang of the game. Once you know how the game plays and what the characters actually do you can play them more aggressively. Either way if you just run in and button mash like you would in Diablo you are going to fail.
Watch word is slow and steady for melee types, pick your battles and just have fun.
Let alone that its too hard for their kid to beat. Tell your boy to buck up, kiddo.
People can say what they want but I remember the old version of Gauntlet, my brother and I would play and we'd go for hours without dying, now however, no matter how hard I try, I cannot make it past the first level either. I've only been able to complete the first level ONCE. Even on easy... This is extremely frustrating, I agree with the original poster, we need to have this tweaked it's way way way too difficult.
Whether or not something is difficult is highly subjective. I would consider this game's Easy difficulty setting to be just that, easy. Obviously you disagree, but that's where subjectivity comes in.
I can't really blame Arrowhead if they didn't forsee that people would have trouble with their easy mode as it's really, really easy for most gamers.
Perhaps you were more of a gamer then. This game is challenging and it never hid that from anyone and I'm trying to wrap my head around why a gamer like you would go near a challenging game if you're having trouble in this game's easy mode. Surely you would have to have known that you're just plain bad at video games now, no disrespect intended but speaking honestly.
I wonder if you ever bought any of the Demon/Dark Souls games.
If the game is giving you trouble, first thing you gotta do is make sure you know how to use your character. Keep the Warrior Rushing and using his Cleave and Spin attack, don't forget about the Elf's Tumble (A life saver, trust me!), Snipe Shot and Bombs, the Wizard's many spells (it's tricky, so if you need to, make a reference list for those spells) and remember the Valkyrie has her Spear Thrust that will kill monsters in one go and her handy shield that can block practically any attack.
Also, the game does become easier as you play, as kills, kills with special moves, and even deaths will level up Masteries, little achievemetns for each character that can grant perks like less time waiting to use the Vakyrie's Shield Throw or even increasing movement speed in certain levels.
If you're playing with your son, as a couple suggested try balancing out the characters. A good combo would be one ranged and one meele. So like Elf/Warrior, Elf/Valkyrie, Wizard/Warrior and so on. But above all, learn your character, get to know them, and use ALL of their tricks. Trust me, it'll make the game WAY more easier. I think there's also a way to replay the tutorial too if you need a quick refresher on anything.
Also Relics! That's what potions are for. It might take a long while since you guys are playing on Easy, but once you save up Relics can really help out. That's what the potions are for. My favorites are the Ring of Mirrors, which creates clones of yourself that fight (and even distract!) enemies, and the Siren's Lute, which if you upgrade it to Level III it makes monsters ignore all Heroes AND restores health.
Good luck, fellow Hero.
Arrowhead doesn't need to balance anything. You just need to learn your characters. Do you play Ryu in Streetfighter and not throw a Hadoken, then complain the game's "Too hard"? Same principle here. And let me tell you, I can't BELIEVE the people that don't know their character. Not having the timing for everyting down to a T is one thing, but dealing with Elves who don't tumble and snipe shot and Warriors that barely spin attack and cleave is another. Learn those moves. Get them down. Use 'em. Survival will come.
And i agree, this game is hard, but "hard" not "challenging"
I mean you get 2 shot by most of the enemies, you have like 3 spell on the game, that make few possible escape.. i wasted 10 euros :/
This game isn't for those who are afraid to lose.
You don't win by giving up. Glad my dad taught me that. It's your family, but I highly recommend teaching your son to try harder and not quit just because you didn't succeed easily and right away.
Nothing good in life comes easy. Have you never overcome something extremely challenging before? It feels pretty damn good...like being able to say I actually beat that damn TMNT game, for starters. Way before the internet, too.
