Controller
This is complete crap. Game claims complete controler support and yet will work with either of my 2 logictech controllers. Why is that, explained this to me. If I hear anything about how it only works with a MS controller that is complete BS and 1000% false adertising due that really is limited control support and should read fully support for MS controlers.

If you use an xbox controller emulator like x360ce, and put the configuration files into the "binary" subfolder of the Gauntlet game files, your controller will work.

For years, literally years now, full controller support means MS 360 controllers. This is something that everyone by now knows. Also, if your controller doesn't work and you refuse to buy a 360 controller (or xb1 now) there are multiple programs that will fix your current controller. When you buy Logitech or Saitek or any other brand you should know what you're getting into and the issues you will deal with compared to somebody who has a 360 controller and spends $12 for a wireless dongle.

I did not know this, I rarely play games like this. I bought this game to bring back childhood memories. I did not even own a gamepad until the day after I bought this game. I was under the assumption any gamepad would work.

I do wish they would have listed which gamepads are supported, luckily for me a co-worker is loaning me his logitech F710 controller.

When I first opened the game, it presented me with the option of keyboard and mouse or gamepad. Now, I can not even see how to select the option for gamepad. Does anyone know how to switch from keyboard and mouse to gamepad?

Thanks,

-Kenn

**update***

I did find this website rather useful.

http://www.techgzone.com/index/gauntlet/gauntlet-fix-gamepad-not-working.html

I was having the same problem. It looks like the game only supports 3 gamepads, the two xbox controllers and one of the logitech's wireless controller. F710 model.

If the url does not show, just search for "gauntlet gamepad" and on google it is the 5th link down titled Gauntlet - Fix gamepad not working

To one and all keep this in mind. We as gamers should have to take the time out of our lives to find a work around for game designers faults. They should have thought about this possiblity when making the game. Most times these days we have to be the ones to find work arounds or patches within our personall systems to make the games we love work for us. They just shouldn't be so. I we want too ok but not be forced to. Why should we make up for there mistakes all the time. I'm sorry but they made this mistake not me or anyone else. Plus the fact the fullcontroler support means MS only is complete BS. If I wanted that I would be playing an Xbox. but instead I'm playing a PC because I have the right and freedom to use what ever tech I want for it. Next they'll be telling us in order to Play MMO game you must use there keyboards and mouses they say. Serious when did the devlopers become like apple and think there gods and telling us how to play our games they make. I'm sorry if I offend anyone it isn't my intent. But for to long I've been seeing this growing trend. The game devolpers grew up just like use being told what to buy, to make games work. I know darn well they didn't like it. So why do it to us. When it comes to the PC world in this deacade of game making. They shouldn't be programing like they did in the 80s and making games only work one way of there choosing. If you come to the dection to make a game with controler support, then it should at the very least be compatible with all controllers within the decade you are making it. It is the fair thing to do to the people whom are think on buying your game. Other Wise they and all the rest shold make it were only certain companys can make develop controls that will be able to play any game at anytime PERIOD no excuses. This is just my option. I speak only for my self and no other. Personally I think when you come up with any game thought you need to think of all the buyers not just core fans you may get your game. Most think or the people like y self who have families and can only afford to buy the cheap 10-20 controlers which is most people I know within my life due we have kids and other bills to pay for.

Rumblepad 2 here. Exit all programs that allow configs on the gamepad. You MUST use only x360CE as any other emulator program will cause conflicts; button 1 will be Y, button 6 will be RT, and etc.

Copy the .exe into the game's binary folder, launch x360CE, follow the prompts, and you may need to config the layout as sometimes the buttons are reversed.

@ thank you for a work around, I really do appreciate that. I really really do. But it the princable of it. The the company who made the game be the one to patch there own game to make it work not you or I, let alone anyone else. They did this no one else. It is there fault for this. They should have put it in there specs for the game before launch staing " we are offering controller suppory but only for MS Xbox controlers" this we as the consumers/gamers can make ourown decitions on weather to invest more then the $20 buy for the game. I can do as everone suggests and put yet another program on my PC just for a game to work. But this is the finnal straw for me. Since I got steam 4 yrs ago I have down loaded over 30 plus work around for devolpers failings. It just isn't right. It is just like MS and Sony stating you can't bring your digital game content you bought from them to there new sys. It just isn't worth to have to search the web for the failings. And yes I do blame the game designers for this because at the of the day yoiu made the choice not us gamers. our fault lies in buying you game and having to fix your mess ups. So Again I say to all this is just my thoughts and mine alone. But I do strogly sugest to you as gamers think on this because the don't get make more games with us to buy them remember this going forward.

The more I visit this game's page, the more I start to back off on the idea of spending $20 on this game. That is a shame; I have been an avid Gauntlet fan since the original game released in the 80's. I had the Tengen cart. Just about every game I have played in the past several years offers 'full' controller support & just seems to work. I may have to configure button assignments, but that is a given. I guess I never explored the definition of 'full controller support'. Had I known it meant 360 pad almost exclusively.. . I would have bought one by now. I might as well get one since they are a bit cheaper, but it still irks me that an irritation such as this thread's core complaint is a problem at this time in gaming.
Currently, Gauntlet is exclusive to PC. Descriptors of 'partial controller support' & 'full controller support' exist. One logical conclusion to draw is that of an understanding for which, "partial controller support" equates to the small pool of compatible joysticks baring a major brand-name/company logo. "Full controller support"- doesn't that sound robust? Full-featured, even? Like Plug&Play.
The most dedicated, creative and resourceful group of gamers is being forced to endure ignorance. Sure, we COULD use one of the many software packages available on the internet to solve the compatibility issue. But we SHOULD NOT have to resort to such measures most commonly reserved for instances of modding, outdated products and system emulation. Unless this dev team chooses to remedy some of the more notorious bugs, I might just save my money. I'll still probably be a sucker, making the purchase if only just for the sake of nostalgia re-occuring between my sister & I.

Well I have to thank the company for acctually patching the game so My controllers will work with the game now. Now I have to replace one of them because my start button will not work which I didn't know till today but at least the controlers I bought months ago will work now. So I thank them for fixing the issue.

People needs to learn what FULL CONTROLLER SUPPORT MEANS !

It means you can run the game on Big picture mode using only controller
Doing everything in the game except typing with a controller
IT DOES NOT MEAN that the game will work on any controller

I have a normal crappy pc controller its working fine with 360ce program installed in the game.
use the program thats it
Vhoori Sep 26, 2014 @ 10:52am
@fire I get were your coming from. but what I was saying and still am is, why should you have install a side program to run a game your playing.
Razzle Sep 26, 2014 @ 11:01am
I do that in every single game that i need to use controller with
