Except most folks prefer the newer Gauntlet games so I wouldn't brush them off like they weren't super fun. The Gauntlet that came out most recently though (the one before this one) wasn't all that great though...
Also, what did Golden Axe have to do with this?
This is true, the part about it being a re-imagining of the orginal Gauntlet. Unfortunate, but true. They have never stated otherwise. I'm hoping their next one, if they make one, will be closer to dark legacy or the other one released around that time. When I get home I'll give my 2 cents, but for now, my lunch is almost over.
I paid well over $20 in that damn arcade machine in '85 and '86 and whenever Gauntlet 2 came out. I'm well within my right to enjoy something that brings back the fond memories of the famed quarter eater. Yellow Wizard is about to die
I'm not brushing off fans of any game. I'm saying that Dark Legacy didn't feel like a successor to Gauntlet to me. Gauntlet was brutal and punishing. The Golden axe thing was just a stupid comparison we used to make with the way it felt like a beat em up/hack n slash instead of Gauntlet. I guess it's a difference of people that grew up with the original vs people that grew up with the Gamecube.
Just because you dont like it, dont act like people are stupid for defending it
