Single player?
Can we play through with 1 character? Or 3 other AI-controlled characters? Or must we play with 3 other human players?

As I understand it, no bots. Yes, you can play solo, or with 1, 2 or 3 other players. The game is supposed to scale to the number of players.

I shared this guy's playthrough vid elsewhere, which shows how the early going goes solo:

Aaah, that combat is looking sooo satisfying. No moon-physics like D3.

Thanks for the video man.

I noticed the viewing angle isn't quite 45-degrees isometric. I wonder if angle could be changed, or is it fixed?

I like DIII, but haven't bought it. Waiting for the 2nd expansion to be released.

I have a lot of reason to like PoE, but man its economy system (ie without gold) just doesn't work for me.

LOL D III is indeed a bit gravity-free.

Please remember Gauntlet isn't an ARPG. No loot, no character no levels, no character attribute points etc. I just wouldn't want people getting this expecting Diablo, Torchlight, Grim Dawn, whatever and then realizing it's more akin to a twin-stick shooter/dungeon brawler. :)

Camera view isn't adjustable, afik. I read in an Arrowhead interview they initially tried a viewing angle that was more akin to ARPGs but found this more top-down view, zoomed out a bit, was more playable and true to its Gauntlet roots. :)

Wow, that was awakening lol. I thought I'm looking at another ARPG.

But I see gold could be collected and items could be purchased from merchants? Or am I seeing things?

Very true. Its like a distilled arpg; no BS, pure action. I even brought a gamepad for this one to get that extra arcade vibe.

You never played or have seen the original Gauntlet? You can play this singleplayer or with friends/co-op and should have fun either way.

No I've never played the original. I started playing games since 1995 (Command & Conquer) and apparently have missed this title.

The only things you can buy that make your character stronger are relics. Also you have masteries (achievements) which give your character a slight boost. Gear is strictly cosmetic.

If it's anything like previous installments to the franchise then yes singleplayer will be possible. and no you won't need 4 to play co-op, 1 to four is fine
