Other couch co-op games like Gauntlet
I know this has come up before, but this question doesn't seem to have been asked recently, so I'm asking for recommendations. My family of three likes to play games together, so we're looking for couch co-op recommendations. We're all in the same room, and sometimes my kid invites a friend over, and there's four of us.

What we want:
Controller support
4-player couch co-op
Shared screen (no split-screen)
Simple controls (for button mashers)

The closest thing out there I can think of is Diablo III on Xbox 360. For whatever reason, co-op is disabled on PC for that game, but that's basically the experience we want.

[EDIT] - Warhammer: Chaosbane seems like the closest thing on PC to the console version of Diablo III.

What we already tried:
Crimson Alliance (Perfect! -but XBox 360 only)
Lego Star Wars (Great, but screen splits when players wander apart)
Magicka (My wife thinks the controls are too complicated)
Dungeon Siege III (FANTASTIC, but only two players)
Forced (Pretty good, but there's no exploration. Levels are just a single arena)
Helldivers (*WAY* too complicated and punishing for casual players)
Vikings: Wolves of Midguard (Awesome, but only two players)
DungeonLand (Great, but removed from the store now, and a bunch of functions are disabled)
Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale (Only two players on the couch)

Anybody got any other suggestions?

Not necessarily like Gauntlet but games I have enjoyed as a Gauntlet enjoyer: Conan Chop Chop, Boomerang Fu, Minecraft Dungeons, Sacred 3, Ship of Fools, Castle Crashers, Its Early Access and the engine is still being developed but Samurai Gunn 2 will eventually be great. A lot of these will vary in your enjoyment of them most likely Sacred 3 with it's bizarre narrator (which you can selecet a different one btw) and Conan Chop Chop is a little buggy but solid game imo let us know how you go or if you have any questions?

Also Diablo III is honestly fantastic good choice
Dungeons of Sundaria. Its split screen for 2/3/4 players. Its not bad for split screen couch coop. Huge dungeons, easy to learn. So many updates, improved the game. Also, maybe try big head heroes.

That looks like a lot of fun, but my wife is kind of awful at games. She can't do split screen. She literally forgets which screen to look at, and she gets lost.

Sacred 3
I bought Sacred 3 during the co-op sale a few weeks ago, and I thought it looked perfect, but it only allows for two players via couch co-op :rshocked:
Hey guys, I found one! It's on sale for super cheap right now too Warhammer: Chaosbane. It's got more story and cut scenes than Gauntlet, so it's a bit more like Diablo III on console, which we are digging so far.
It ticks all the boxes: 4-player couch co-op with shared screen, online co-op, controller support, button-masher-friendly,
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Hey that's great to hear you found one. Well if ARPGs are you jam you could play modded Torchlight 2. Oh wait forgot you need controller support: Torchlight 2 controller support is terrible

Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition

On sale often. Lots of content. Similar Diablo, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn etc etc. Meets most, if not all, of your requirements :)

edit: oops. no local co op. missing probably most important requirement.
