It already looks different from diablo as far as i'm concerned as there's clearly some twinstick action going on - hopefully meaning you'll have a lot more control over your character rather than focusing on abilities.
I miss the N64 Gauntlet :(
When I see reboots that acquired classic licenses, it's mostly just another case of franchising with added nostalgia-milking the $_$ out of the old fans on top of it, while the game itself is aimed at completely different audience and retains next to nothing compared to the original. I just hope it won't turn out that way, like it often tends to.
Just my 2
In my experience playing Gauntlet on the N64 in co-op was much more difficult and longer than that of Diablo 2. Sure, both are hack n' slash games riddled with treasure, but it doesn't make them the same.
I hope you didn't start a trend here where once a week some guy makes a "Diablo vs Guantlet" thread. It's like the Rust forums where asshats try to compare it to DayZ.

Though in all seriousness, not my intentions. I just really can barely see any Gauntlet in the game, I'd think a Gauntlet would need to be pretentious, or have it so the character ALWAYS throw their weapons. Overwhelming enemies that can creepily kill you and aren't the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kind that slowly come at you like fodder to make you 'feel awesome' like Titanfall AI fodder but in Gauntlet form (Since Diablo enemies of course can be crazy hard you just have to do what is normal which is select Hardcore mode and a harder difficulty) With this game? There never was much of difficulty - but what it simply was. A challenging game that required patience and situational strategy. I just don't see that in this game, what I remember seeing last when I viewed the trailer was a Barbarian Diablo-esque special move as fodder-enemies get blasted away. Whirlwind?
Currently...only game that makes me feel like its partially Gauntlet is the indie game: Hammerwatch. It even has bloody DIRECT REFERENCES OF GAUNTLET! and other games within the maps and bonus stages that are dirrreecttt references to Gauntlet. So I'd say Gauntlet fans should play that instead, unless they show more of this and it not reek of Diablo
Modernizing a classic, simplistic game just breaks what it is, ruins the nostalgia and the recipe that made the old game what it was :/ Which is why I could say: "This game could be named completely difference and I bet not many would compare Gauntlet with it, people only will now because it is Named Gauntlet" or yada yada.

Classic. - Also, rewatched the 'Remake' trailer. All I do see of it is Hammerwatch combined with Diablo 3 really. The characters and gameplay mechanics just aren't Gauntlet :/
Crude whippersnapper presuming me to be some old man living in the past. A tad ignorant, a tad illogical.
Looks and smells original? Now I know you're deluded :l I don't have to like the past Gauntlet games to affect my knowledge that someone saying that this Gauntlet remake is 'ORIGINAL' is hilarious.
This 'Gauntlet' is more of a Diablo and Hammerwatch clone than anything else, go look up Hammerwatch as I get a feeling you're unaware of it.

As one reviewer writes: "This game is amazing, it brings me back to the old days of standing around a gauntlet machine with 3 friends hacking and slashing through monsters. This is essentially gauntlet, but a new school retro, and online."
anywhoooooo. my 2 cents? the trailer had a skeletal king. nuff said.
Totally agree
Yes, non-hostile and clean. Disputes always can exist and that of which will be likely amongst perceptions and differences of said definition.
Are you Really telling me that I'd never like Hammerwatch when I used it as reference like 2-3 times through this thread already?....or are you saying I will never like Gauntlet, even though we've not gotten any new video footage except the first trailer.
