So....what's different from this and Diablo 3?
Anyone care to explain to me the differences? I barely see any and I say that with a negative light indeed.

I grew up playing Gauntlet on the Amiga computer and loved Gauntlet Legends on N64 to DEATH....this game, does not make me think of 'Gauntlet'. Just a hack n Slash Diablo (3) clone. I hear people saying it has 'monster spawners' and coop thus it is Gauntlet? Hard to be persuaded by those simple things.

I'm looking for genuine - non-hostile responses. Keep it clean.

Ehm haven't played it so I can't really answer in all honesty. We just need to hope that its as good as the other Gauntlets. I don't see making this thread will help you in any way whatsoever to find out the difference between this and Diablo 3 because no ones played it yet as far as I know. Also it's rather silly of you to make this thread and not expect people to get angry and respond rudely. Unless you want a flame war and nerd arguments that get rather tedious. I would advise not asking pointless questions like this that sound insulting to people who are looking forward to this game.

Well they barely showed anything in the trailer so i'm not quite sure how you can come to that conclusion so soon.

It already looks different from diablo as far as i'm concerned as there's clearly some twinstick action going on - hopefully meaning you'll have a lot more control over your character rather than focusing on abilities.

I miss the N64 Gauntlet :(

Diablo is hack and slash random looting rpg(this genre is dead for me) .this game is more like hack and slash arcade i suposse
TopBadger May 21, 2014 @ 4:45am
I'm assuming there's not gonna be a loot in this game, just going for them high scores yo.

Well its quite clear from the trailer: "Arcade classic reborn for the new generation of..." players I guess. Games are different now, because they are trying to appeal to the masses and unfortunately for some of us, they do like to see flashy things to keep their attention like in the other hack-n-slash games out there, with instant gratification and often somewhat shallow or generic gameplay.

When I see reboots that acquired classic licenses, it's mostly just another case of franchising with added nostalgia-milking the $_$ out of the old fans on top of it, while the game itself is aimed at completely different audience and retains next to nothing compared to the original. I just hope it won't turn out that way, like it often tends to.
Just my 2:penny: though. Would be great to be finaly wrong in this particular case of "classic reborn for the new audience" tag.

Two games of the same genre/theme can also be different.

In my experience playing Gauntlet on the N64 in co-op was much more difficult and longer than that of Diablo 2. Sure, both are hack n' slash games riddled with treasure, but it doesn't make them the same.

I hope you didn't start a trend here where once a week some guy makes a "Diablo vs Guantlet" thread. It's like the Rust forums where asshats try to compare it to DayZ.

There's clearly SOME kind of loot system in place because the pre-order gives you a unique axe and helm. Each character must get some kind of equipment drops or chance to buy new equipment between levels.

Though in all seriousness, not my intentions. I just really can barely see any Gauntlet in the game, I'd think a Gauntlet would need to be pretentious, or have it so the character ALWAYS throw their weapons. Overwhelming enemies that can creepily kill you and aren't the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kind that slowly come at you like fodder to make you 'feel awesome' like Titanfall AI fodder but in Gauntlet form (Since Diablo enemies of course can be crazy hard you just have to do what is normal which is select Hardcore mode and a harder difficulty) With this game? There never was much of difficulty - but what it simply was. A challenging game that required patience and situational strategy. I just don't see that in this game, what I remember seeing last when I viewed the trailer was a Barbarian Diablo-esque special move as fodder-enemies get blasted away. Whirlwind?

Currently...only game that makes me feel like its partially Gauntlet is the indie game: Hammerwatch. It even has bloody DIRECT REFERENCES OF GAUNTLET! and other games within the maps and bonus stages that are dirrreecttt references to Gauntlet. So I'd say Gauntlet fans should play that instead, unless they show more of this and it not reek of Diablo

Modernizing a classic, simplistic game just breaks what it is, ruins the nostalgia and the recipe that made the old game what it was :/ Which is why I could say: "This game could be named completely difference and I bet not many would compare Gauntlet with it, people only will now because it is Named Gauntlet" or yada yada.

Classic. - Also, rewatched the 'Remake' trailer. All I do see of it is Hammerwatch combined with Diablo 3 really. The characters and gameplay mechanics just aren't Gauntlet :/

You all realise Diablo is a Guantlet clone with more features? Neco - why dont you crack out your atari, commodore 64, zx spectrum or arcade emulaters and answer the phone as 1985 is calling you to keep your style and gameplay ideas the same.... :-) the game looks and smells like the original - I will pass judgement when we actually have hands on.

Crude whippersnapper presuming me to be some old man living in the past. A tad ignorant, a tad illogical.

Looks and smells original? Now I know you're deluded :l I don't have to like the past Gauntlet games to affect my knowledge that someone saying that this Gauntlet remake is 'ORIGINAL' is hilarious.

This 'Gauntlet' is more of a Diablo and Hammerwatch clone than anything else, go look up Hammerwatch as I get a feeling you're unaware of it.

As one reviewer writes: "This game is amazing, it brings me back to the old days of standing around a gauntlet machine with 3 friends hacking and slashing through monsters. This is essentially gauntlet, but a new school retro, and online."

Ehm just curious what happened to the being polite part hmmmmmmm op? So far everyone's been polite but you.... Also btw in my memories of gauntlet legends I spammed the attack button and ran around it wasn't exactyly a deep game. Then again I guess there's Just no pleasing the fans who burst a blood vessel every time the devs change something....

he never said anything about polite. he just said to keep it clean and non-hostile.
anywhoooooo. my 2 cents? the trailer had a skeletal king. nuff said.

Hammerwatch looked SmashTV to me, I watched it and had flashbacks of that SNES game. OP will never like this game as he has already formed an opinion on it before even playing it. This thread is best locked at this point

Yes, non-hostile and clean. Disputes always can exist and that of which will be likely amongst perceptions and differences of said definition.

Are you Really telling me that I'd never like Hammerwatch when I used it as reference like 2-3 times through this thread already?....or are you saying I will never like Gauntlet, even though we've not gotten any new video footage except the first trailer. :apafrog:
