I would say that it depends you on you. I have thrown hundreds of hours into this game in single player. I think it shines there.

With over 400 hours in the game, most was single player. Sometimes I'd pop into a game or make mine public. but I am more than happy to play this by myself. Do each stage with different characters and you'll see how the game is different depending which character you use. Love it!

If you're a Gauntlet fan like me (I grew up playing the first two in arcades), yes. Haven't tried multiplayer, I can get a local game going when I have friends over to try though. I don't do online multiplayer (personal).

I played solo with the Valkyrie and couldn't finish the last fight. I had to open it up for help and finally did. Played Endless a little as well. Got past up to the first portal I think on level 19? A great game for solo I think. I haven't played any other character though. I tried the wizard once but found it too complicated. A question for anyone who has played all the characters - which one is the most fun for solo?

Wizard, for me. There's a higher ceiling for skill that keeps it interesting. It's less effective than Warrior or Necromancer solo, but it's the most fun because of that complexity.

I'm playing a lot of Endless as a solo Elf but make my game public from time to to. I have found that the "just right" challenge for me is to portal to level 19 and play from there, usually losing 7 or 8 skull coins on level 31 and then making it a few more levels. With help, having my game in public mode, I have unlocked to portal 73 but I usually die quickly if I go solo there. I can't imagine how to defeat a locked room with 5 Liches! Sometimes I can get past a few levels by running but the locked rooms get me sooner or later. I think the deep dungeons in Endless are just simply meant for co-op. Can someone verify this?

Co-op is really fun! 5 liches room is the harder room there but if you have potions you can easy do this 5 liches with your elf. I always save all my 5 potions for this room!
When in co-op 5 liches are more harder since health of boss+towers are increased, but since the other team mates are experienced enough then they can help you to kill 5 liches room.
Personal i find my self more easy to do this as solo than in a party since i can fast kill liches due to their low health, but playing solo is boring for me.
Tip: When you will face the 5 liches if you have Thyra on your groop is nice to stay defend in a corner with her shield, this will save you some potions for all the team and also keep your game ''safe''

What's the best way to take out a Lich quickly as an elf? Which weapon?

Shadowstrike with mirrors or speed boots is the best imo for this room for elf. Use your song as fast as you can before liches start to summon enemies / ghosts and never use the mirrors when your song is activeted since this will cancel the potion ability. Feel free to add me if you need any help :-)
