Why do people refer the Pre-Slayer Gauntlet?

Old Gauntlet 1 player coming late to this party.

See comments about Pre and Post Slayer version of these game and wondered what it means.

Gauntlet 2014 is pre-Slayer Edition. It's a different experience; better in some ways, worse in every other way. They basically ruined the bosses in Slayer Edition (the funnest part of story mode...). Morak is slightly funner to fight, but less challenging.

Pre-Slayer or Classic Gauntled is the default version before Slayer update.it is really a different experience playing this. The Relics and items had different effects, they were more powerfull and all of them needed a potion to use.The masteries are not just gold,The characteres got some buffs completing the masteries,The most well-known is " The Bubble" from Wizard it is a kind of passive shield that appear when the Wizard didn't get hit during a time,it defends 1 hit.

TY.

So being a player of the original Gauntlet will the current one be similar and would that be pre or post Slayer?

Also, is there a lobby-type system for teaming up over the Internet?

Both versions have summoning stones, masses of enemies, and various throwbacks. Slayer Edition is closer to what you're looking for due to its a procedural mode (Endless), but the mode is scarcely like what the originals offered. The gameplay of the classes is quite awesome, though. Check out my review for more in-depth info on Slayer Edition.

Yes.

There is a whole guide about the differences!

Spoilers: I'm the author of that guide and the first person to run pre-Slayer on Steam post-2015.

Lobbies and quick-join work for both versions (though you can't play cross-version, of course).
