Gauntlet Players,

It has been a busy year since our vision and remake of the arcade classic Gauntlet was released. In that time we have not only released one version, but recently released our newer, shinier updated version as well – Gauntlet: Slayer Edition – on both PC and PlayStation 4 console.

While it has been great working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the development phase and our time together is now drawing to a close and Arrowhead’s involvement with the support of the game will come to an end. This means we likely will not release any more patches for the game. If anything were to ever change in the future we will of course keep the Gauntlet community updated.

Frogwing and ForeverAPeon from Arrowhead will still be available in the forums to chat and answer questions (and always on our brand new website of course!), but we ask all of you to continue to report any issues with a ticket to Warner Bros. Support, found here [support.wbgames.com], so that they can keep up to date with the current status.

We thank every single one of you for supporting us along this journey. It has been an incredible experience to work on one of our childhood favorite games and so much fun remaking this classic. We can only hope that you have enjoyed playing as well, and will continue having fun with friends for a long time to come.

On a final note, as a parting gift we have made sure that the Gauntlet pre-order items will be available for all PC players for free beginning today.

Patch 2.2 Notes:

• Gauntlet challengers be glad, for Clients will no longer crash in the loading screen while waiting for the Host to start a floor!
• All Contestants be aware, Liches will no longer be able to pass through closed doors and go beyond the reach of the combatants of the Gauntlet!
• Heroes be advised, the gods have further remedied Camera zooming and tracking problems in the title that are related to various factors, including screen resolution parameters.
• Gauntlet warriors be advised that using Thor’s "Bottomless Jug" ability on Khamun’s Heart will no longer cause a progression blocker by turning it into food.
• Misuse of Portals in ‘Endless’ mode will not be tolerated! All exploits to do with Portal use in Endless have been targeted and eliminated by the gods.
• To all Gauntlet Mages, it is no longer possible to exploit the title by continually staying invisible with Merlin’s ‘Hollow Chapters’ ability. The god’s have weeded out this trickery and have eliminated it for the good of the competition!
• Heroes will no longer be able to cause a progression blocker by quickly backtracking behind the first closing rock wall when at the ‘Gates of Orox ‘.
• Champions of the Gauntlet, your lamentations have been heard and the god’s on high have answered! Moving forward, challengers can no longer be slain after passing from one floor to the other (during the countdown).
• To the brave Archer’s of the Gauntlet, all animation problems for Questor’s ‘Vault Jump’ ability have been identified and resolved by the gods!
• Mighty Gauntlet competitors please be advised, the ‘Host Options’ will always be visible and available even if a gamepad is unplugged and then re-plugged from your PC at any time.
• Debug text is no longer visible in ‘Sound/Misc Menu’. This is the sacred script of the gods and is not meant for the eyes of mere mortals!
• Various ‘OOW’ issues have been identified and fixed for both heroes and enemy AI.

Steam Patch 2.1 Notes:

• Attention all Heroes using Radeon Graphics cards with 4K monitors. Your cries have been heard and the gods have answered. All Camera related issues have been addressed and fixed. No more camera lagging during the action!

• All Heroes take heed, Several Steam Achievement descriptions have been updated to reflect the correct parameters of success!

• Let it be known to all, the Achievement "We Need to go Deeper" is no longer missing from the Steam achievements list!

• Gauntlet Champions do not fret, the title will no longer crash when joining or accepting an invite through Steam and will no longer crash when accepting an invite while booting the game up.

• Cheating Heroes beware, Exploits within ‘Endless’ mode that make ones Gauntlet Campaign progress easier have been discovered and eliminated by the gods. The Challenge of the Gauntlet shall be equally trying for all!!

• All ‘Endless’ floors past 18 that are populated with the ‘Cultist’ enemies will now have purchasable items available for weary Heroes in need of a boost.

• This is for all those Champions that test their might in deadly ‘Endless’ mode. The Leaderboards will now post results past floor 256 for all to see!

• To all Heroes that search every nook and cranny of the deadly Gauntlet. Various navigation and ‘Out Of World’ issues have been identified and fixed.

• Various minor gameplay issues have been addressed and fixed.

• Couple of camera issues have been addressed and fixed.

• A number of stability issues have been addressed and resolved.

For a number of months we have been working hard to shape the game into what we fully envisioned and today we are proud and excited to get to share that experience with you.

Today Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is available to download as a free update for current owners of the game. You can become one of the courageous adventurers that take their chances braving this new Gauntlet experience.

Since the first release in 2014, Gauntlet has received many improvements. The key points we have addressed are Hero depth, gameplay variation and overall richer visuals. Below you can find a full list of all the new features and updates to existing ones.

Patch 2.0 Notes:

• The Heroes have cried out and the gods have answered. A new Game mode called ‘Endless’ has been added so combatants can test their might against the limitless hordes!
• Heroes rejoice! For now all Gauntlet combatants can change their special abilities by equipping different weapon ‘Load-outs’ in the Lobby screen.
• Heroes now have their own Unique Potion Abilities to wreak further destruction on their foes within the Gauntlet.
• Relics will no longer require a potion to use! Instead, they now work with a ‘Cool-down’ system, and many have been updated with gameplay tweaks.
• The Gauntlet is now more fearsome than ever as new enemy types have been added to enhance the mayhem!
• Beware! Several existing monster types have been updated with new abilities as well as visual upgrades.
• ‘Colloseum’ mode has been modified into a ‘daily challenge mode’ for Heroes to test their valor against.
• Now instead of a ‘Hub’ area/room the campaign is represented through a map.
• The Gauntlet has gone through some renovations! The gods have performed some Art and Gameplay polish on all environments as well as UI updates to provide a more refined Gauntlet experience.
• Difficulty has been rebalanced and difficulties have been renamed to match the changes made.
• The ‘Tally Screen’ at the end of each floor has been updated so Heroes have a more clear idea on how they fared.
• Certain ‘Masteries’ and ‘Achievements’ have been changed to reflect their updated requirements and new ones have been added for ‘Endless’ mode.
• We love Gold! ‘Masteries’ now give gold bonuses instead of Gameplay advantages, and every participant in the Gauntlet will now accumulate their own gold stash.
• A heroes ‘Kill Score’ will no longer influence how much gold is awarded at the end of any given floor.
• The Credits have been updated.
• The Heroes have cried out and the gods have answered by addressing many other small gameplay issues.

Nearly 30 years ago Morak first took his place in the Gauntlet to shape it to his will and torment any adventurer daring to brave its depths. Last year he made his re-appearance to challenge champions on PC, and your cries for more ways to thwart his evil plans were heard.
Now, it has been decreed that the heroes of Gauntlet must vanquish Morak’s minions once more, in ways unimaginable this August!

We are happy to announce that Gauntlet: Slayer Edition will be a free upgrade for all current and future owners of Gauntlet on PC when it is released on August 11th. As we had hinted at earlier, this has been in the works now for a while and it’s been so frustrating not being able to just tell everyone the news right away.

We’ve been enhancing a lot of the assets in the game, both Characters and Environments, as well as improving on the game mechanics.
This time around, we wanted to explore the Heroes and their Abilities more in-depth giving them a bigger toolset for players to explore, as well as a new Game Mode in which to exercise their rights as self-proclaimed monster slayers.

Since Hero Equipment plays a larger role now, we have reworked the loadout mechanic so that it can be done by four players simultaneously and regardless of game mode. We have added Weapon abilities, and the Relics and Potions also work differently now.

For the story campaign, we wanted to give the feeling that you are descending deeper and deeper into the Gauntlet, while at the same time giving players more control over level selection. We have also pushed the differences in each environment more, increasing variation both visually and in monster encounters.

Since all our focus has been needed on this free upgrade for PC, regretfully, the SteamOS version of the game has been cancelled. We hoped to have had that version ready by the time Valve had officially launched it later this year, but together with WBIE, it was decided that our limited resources were better dedicated to making the PC version the best it possibly could be. In our judgment that’s both what you PC players deserve, and what the PS4 version needs for the August release. We’re hoping that instead, you will enjoy the updates coming next month in Gauntlet: Slayer Edition as much as we do ourselves!

Colosseum SEASON 2 has been unleashed! Jump in now to face new challenges and earn brand new rewards. As a reminder, Season 3 will start April 1st.

Bug Fixes

• Heroes who lost connection from a match after the Host was disconnected will be able to smoothly reconnect to the same lobby.

• This one is for all you Wizard’s out there! There should no longer be any risk of Merlin becoming stuck in midair if he is knocked into his own ‘Lightning Shield’ during combat.

• Heroes can retry the Colosseum until they are successful without fear of stability issues.

• Lilith’s ‘Heavy Skeleton Slam’ should always hit its mark accurately and will remain visible throughout the length of the attack.

• The Heroes have cried out and once again the god’s have answered! The visibility of the in game cursor has been improved so all heroes can see clearly during the mayhem of the Gauntlet!

• All Heroes rejoice! There is no longer semitransparent text present behind the Colosseum scoring prompt.

• Character art should no longer flicker in the Colosseum setup screen, while another character is posing in character select.

Hello adventurers!

As we've watched countless heroes slain and slaughtered by Season 1 of the Gauntlet Colosseum, we wondered if we should ask Morak to perhaps tone down the mayhem in order to let the less hardcore of combatants have a chance. Well we did and he promptly spit in our face and kicked us into a deep pit filled with undead orcs. He then announced that Season 2 of the Gauntlet Colosseum was going to start as soon as next week with even more devious challenges.

Once we managed to escape by climbing on top of the dead bodies of all the others he kicked down there, we raced back home to inform everyone that Season 1 is ending next Tuesday night, Jan. 20th! What that means is if you want to get your special capes AND rank among the best Gauntlet players out there, you should jump into the Colosseum now before it’s too late. Because once Season 2 starts, those capes will never be seen again.

But even if you miss out on Season 1, you can still jump into the Colosseum and earn brand new rewards coming next week. And we managed to steal Morak's notes for when future seasons of the Colosseum will begin: Season 2 will start Wed. Jan. 21st and Season 3 will start April 1st.

So hop to it heroes! Join up with your fellow adventurers and conquer Season 1 before it's too late!
