Startup crash

I have the same startup ctd as everyone else seems to have, with the exception that none of the suggested fixes will work for me. I clear cache, run the .exe in the directory, the game re-configures the cache and the crashes exactly the same way. Have tried more than five reinstalls and other methods have also failed. Am I just going to lose 30 bucks here?

Any details about this "startup crash" ? Any specific error messages or codes?

nope. Just crashes to desktop once the initial asset load screen reaches map properly initialized.

I should add that I've played this game with no problems on a five year old laptop, but now my new gaming rig won't run it at all. Is it something to do with a multicore issue?

A "multicore issue"? Details please. HOI3 doesn't support multicores?

I can't find out anything about the crash because there is no error message,

well my game worked fine and i got a duel core but it stoped working i teried what he listed didnt waork it gava me an error file exeption 624 somethinglike that

I'd wager that we have a great many players with multicore systems. I'm one of those. No issues with HOI3. I suspect something else is happening here.

The first step is always to check for a new video driver. Second, try reinstalling the pre-reqs for this game. I'm on Linux so I don't have the exact names handy...but they should be somewhere in:

c:\program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Hearts of Iron 3\ (this is from memory so you might have search for it)

Look in that directory for stuff like visual c++ redistributable, directx, and other stuff. Try re-installing or repariing your installation.

Did you get it fixed? Did you change operating systems when you changed machines?

no i have one pc i use it worked for about 6 months then las week hoi3 has ben giveing me the error i said
ive tried alll fixes i can find

Ok, try running HOI3 again and capturing the exact error msg that you get. That might give us a clue about what is broken. Also, keep track of where HOI3 is at when the error appears. Does the error appear immediately after you start the game?

Ok, in your case, I found a fix in another thread:

Navigate to your hoi3 installation in the steamapps folder.
Open file "map".
Within that file is another file labelled "cache".
Delete everything within that folder.
Restart your copy of hoi3. The cache will be reconstructed. This may
take a few minutes.
After that exit and restart the game. It should be working normally :)

didtn work i tried that allready note i ave all the threee flc but idk if it makes a difience ive tried the map folder in tfh but it didnt work eather
if it helps it crashes on installing map logic

Another person suggested this:

Try going to the Cache this way (win7):Libraries/My Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron/map/cache...then delete the contents of that folder.
