How do you play Communist China?

Trying to play as communist china in BICE and it is hopeless. I could not capture any provinces in 1936 at all becuase Nat China just droped half there army next to me and make attacks useless. I joined the allience but ended it so I could invade Shanxi. When I invaded all of china rushed to help and the mountains made attack impossible so I had to pull out. Japan is invading now but I cannot go into another alience with China. Should I just restart and stay in the alliance? If so, how is it even possible to go anywere with such poor troops and leadership?

You really do have to wait for a while. Don't train anything besides communist militia and try and annex the people to your west (can't remember their name) an when the soviets take manchuria they will give it to you by this time the nationalist will be weekend enough to beat them by around 1949 if all goes well.
