It's an error with HoI 3 thats very common especially when you just installed it, right click on HoI 3, click on properties, local files, browse local files, map, and clear the contents of the cache folder (dont delete the folder) and it should be fixed after that. Just remeber to do this everytime you install or re-install HoI 3 or Victoria 2

Yes, I had the same statement, but I had to extract and instal DirectX. After press START I had error "dll lost". Are you trying start game from Steam ? If yes, try start from folder (hoi3_tfh.exe). Game sharing some files, maybe firewall or antyvirus stops sharing. I had the same issue when I stop sharing some files, I don't remember which, sorry. Check Microsoft Network update, I do not know why but I read somewhere about it.

I have no suggestions but after reading this I may have to reconsider getting HOI3 collection. Seems it's causing some trouble.

Yes, it is, and my problem was not solved, i have tried to ask for help on Paradox Interactive forum under the section "Hearts of Iron III: Tech Support" but i recived only suggestions and no answer from staff, maybe they don't even care, i'm thinking about requesting a refund for this game, in the future i will think twice before buying again a game made from this guys.

Paradox has not actively supported HOI III for years. It had been us fans/fellow gamers that have been doing our best to help others. Keep in mind the game came out in 2009 and the last expansion, Their Finest Hour released in 2012.

Your best bet is that Tech Support section, **MEGATHREAD**. If you can find nothing to help in there, I am not sure what else to suggest.

I would ask if you have the ability to "turn off" all the garabage that comes with that "collection"? All you need is Semper Fi > For The Motherland > Thier Finest Hour. If you can get just those three to run, you will be in a better place. Specifically, Dies Irae Götterdämmerung has been known to cause issues with the following expansions. It was made for Semper Fi and changes some game files which seem to not be compatable or play well with the later updates.

It pains me to read daily about people having issues. I have the non steam version and never have issues. It is a fantastic game, for those of us which like this genre.

Thank you, i will try that tomorrow; i have already read the **MEGATHREAD** post but i was not able to solve the problem, i'm starting to get annoyed because the game is crashing with no error message so i don't know where to start from, if they don't update or give technical support to customers anymore they should not be selling the game on steam, at least that's what i think.

So just getting HOI3 on it's own should be enough? I've seen Youtube vids about it and it certainly appeals to me.

Uzbug - HOI III is vastly improved with the three expansions. Semper Fi > For The Motherland and Thier Finest Hour. It is the other "fluff" which is not required. I always suggest at least the three expansions, each one builds upon the previous and adds things to the game.
