We need a better HOI3, here we go.

"Ultimate - Black Ice is based on Black Ice" - Ultimate - Black Ice will develop into a unique game with mostly savegame compatible updates where you can finish your savegames. - If you like the mod thumbs up on the artwork and screenshots.

RECOMMENDED FOR THIS MOD:
If the game crashes on starting a new game get the HOI3 steam collection version with all DLCs for ULTIMATE - BLACK ICE.

-We have now a more modern and smaller font setting in parts in game, so the engine can display more stuff better and more info in the mouse infobox and sets a more clean look and some old interface problems are fixed now.
-Germany country color is steelgrey again, more field marshal/officer color not the to dark greenish soldier fieldgrey, so the political map looks better and more clear again.
-Fixed a severe old mod bug, removed the colorization of the event units, the engine cant handle it good and it will cause a lot of problems and bugs, the upgrade event will inform you which units got removed.
-Fixed some other bugs.
-Tweaked and fixed some other stuff.
-Created and added some thrilling land and air combat sounds.
-Not savegame compatible, start a new game.

HOW TO INSTALL CORRECTLY:

RECOMMENDED: Get the HOI3 steam collection version with all DLCs for Ultimate-Black Ice, if you dont have it Ultimate-Black Ice 1.7 may work for you.

1. If you already have a previous version of ULTIMATE - BLACK ICE installed make sure to delete the folder C:\Users\"YOURNAME"\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of IronIII\UltimateBlackICE now, (Backup your savegames first or delete only the folders map,gfx and music in C:\Users\"YOURNAME"\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron III\UltimateBlackICE) the game has to rebuild the cache, map and flagfiles again on next game start. EXIT THE GAME again after the cache, map and flagfiles have been rebuild, then restart the game and only then start a new game or the game will crash.

2. Install Hearts of Iron III: Their Finest Hour.

3. In steam right click Hearts of Iron III and select properties, then select BETAS,
select 4.02-no_security_fix and install it.
4. Copy the folder UltimateBlackICE to: \steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3\tfh\mod
5. Copy the file UltimateBlackICE.mod to: \steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3\tfh\mod
6. Copy the file hoi3_tfh.exe to: \steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3 (overwrite the old file with "YES")
7. Copy the file lua5.1.dll to: \steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3 (overwrite the old file with "YES")

8. Now start Hearts of Iron III in steam, mark in launcher "ULTIMATE - BLACK ICE" and press start. On loading wait, the game will build the map and a lot of stuff on first start it will take a while. Next time starting the game will be much faster. When Hearts of Iron III finished loading, press custom start and exit the game on the screen where you can see "Single Player". EXIT THE GAME!

9. Copy the file settings.txt and messagetypes_custom.txt to: C:\Users\"YOURNAME"\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron III\UltimateBlackICE (overwrite the files with "YES") (That will set the graphics and in game messages good for the mod and prevent some crashes)

10. Copy the file busy.ani to the Hearts of Iron 3 main steam directory, yes exactly to this directory, the loading cursor is hardcoded and cant be changed in the mod files, copy the file to: \Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron 3\gfx\cursors (Overwrite file "Yes")

11. The mod is best currently in the the screen resolution: 2560x1440, you can change it but i recommend it.

12. Game in fullscreen mode and dont minimize or tab out of the game without saving, it may crash.

13. Make sure to close all background programs that you can, they can crash the game on loading, when i have GPU Tweak III running the game crashes while loading or gameing, if i close it the game will not crash. Dont believe most of the myths to delete the logs or so, background programs are mostly the real cause for a crash while loading or gameing the game.

14. Also make sure to use english language only.

15. ALSO HOW TO SEE IF YOUR GAME WILL CRASH BY A RUNNING BACKGROUND PROGRAM WHILE THE GAME IS RUNNING: Look the screenshot: "How to see if your game will crash" If the background picture in the diplomacy screen looks like that then there is a program that freaks up the .exe and will cause crashes. Look the screenshot: "How to see if your game will not crash" If the background picture in the diplomacy screen looks like that then your game will mostly not be crashed by a background program and runs more stable.

16. To correctly start the game on a new game first go to the decisions screen and select "ULTIMATE-BLACK ICE 1936 Start" before you activate the time to run in game! Close the decision screen and then reopen it again to see all new available decisions, activate all difficulty decisions now and look into all available decisions before you start the gametime.

Finished, restart the game and Try to survive in ULTIMATE - BLACK ICE!

REMEMBER: The game will start only correctly on the second start after the mod is installed, exit HOI3 after the mod is installed and restart HOI3, then start a new game, the correct checksum will also show only on the second start after installation of the mod.

REMEMBER to restart the game always completely if you start a new game.

Changes in ULTIMATE - BLACK ICE V1.0 (MHIQ):
-Added some graphical improvements.
-Fixed a severe bug, HOI 3 checks only monthly your resources that are reduced by the revoltrisk in your provinces, that means if you dont save and load a game always at the last day of the month, you will not get the correct amount of resources that you own for many days. If you rise the suppression level to lower the revoltrisk in your provinces, to get more resources, you will get them only next month. When you load a game mid-month and not at the last day of the month you will not get the correct amount of resources. After loading a game the suppression level is not calculated correctly at the next day, only at next first day of the next month.

Normally you get more resources if you suppress the revoltrisk in a province, i removed that now because it is bugged and hardcoded. So as that is hardcoded i did a workaround improvement, revoltrisk will no longer lower your resources now, but revolts will start now if you dont suppress the dissidents in your provinces good enough, and they can fight now! You will be in big trouble if you dont control the dissidents in your provinces!

(Check the revoltrisk mapmode, it is randomly checked now if you have suppressed the revoltrisk in your provinces good enough, if not rebels will spawn in orange and red provinces, they are fast, they will attack, they will reinforce and retreat! So you can save and load a game now whenever you want without loosing resources but suppression and revoltrisk still matter and the new revolt mechanic in the mod can cause big trouble. They will get your factories and resources if you dont stop them and revolts can spread or increase now!)

-Leader experience gain is much slower now, commanders are worth more and experience is not so easy to get.
-Fixed some bugged difficulty settings.
-Adapted and rebalanced the difficulty settings.
-Fixed some event bugs.
-Fixed a lot of coding bugs.

@V1rusX Maybe thats causing your problems, you need HOI3 4.02-no_security_ fix and maybe all DLCs. So works for me with steam version + all DLCs.

Same issue as @V1rusX.
People on MoDB are reporting this too.

I installed it without Hoi3 Utility tool. I don't care about that tool, it takes away immersion for me and I don't want to use it. It feels like cheating with trainer.

Hoi3 all DLC GoG version without 4.02 security fix, Podcat's exe applied, resolution 1366x768, 12GB RAM, Win10 64bit, all other mods (Downfall, Imperium, WW1, TRP. Ahoi etc) work, including newest version of original Black ICE (11.2).

There is something wrong with 1.8, to many people are reporting it.

@Inquerion Dont looks to be caused by 1.8, works for 98% of the gamers who download it, looks like something on some computers or wrong settings or not correctly installed or something, i dont know whats causing this for some ppl, so you dont installed correctly if you use 1366x768, use the settings file "Settings.txt" that is in the installtion files that is using 2560x1440 is it working then for you?

Do you use english language or any other language?
Did you run the game in full screen mode as it was building map cache?

I am also crashing on 1.8 at Adapting History. Fresh install of hoi3, 64bit win10, installed podcats exe.

Out of curiosity I just installed ver 1.7 and it works perfectly. No Adapting History crash on 1.7

Same result. even with Map Cache. Crash on "Adapting history" after selecting a country and clicking "play".

BlackICE 11.2 and every other mod works fine, so there must be something wrong with this one.

400 downloads and 4 reports doesn't mean that for 396 people everything was ok. Most people don't comment on forums. They try it, it doesn't work, they move to other things.

After @V1rusX comment, I tried 1.7 and it works fine. Problem is with 1.8.
I will stick with 1.7 for now, but it would be great to have fixes from 1.8.

Btw. which nations besides Majors are recommended to play? There is new content for minors in your mod too?

Bit strange, is only crashing for some ppl, looks like something on there systems, if you press play after selecting a country and it crashes then its mostly caused by a running background program, try to close all background programs in taskmanager and try to find out which one cause the crash, for me it happens if GPU TWEAK III is running.

Did you made sure to delete all stuff in the documents paradox folder before installing V1.8?

V1.8 works for most of the gamers, so someone for whom it crashes need to find out, i can hardly find it out because i cant recreate the crash, its not crashing for me. Someone has to install V1.7 then and put always one new folder/file from V1.8 into to see which file cause the crash on V1.8 for them.

Anyone of you who it crashes for has the steam version of HOI3? Maybe it will only work with the steam version... anyone reported a crash with the HOI3 steam version?

Will it crash only on one country or dosent it matter which country you select? Will it crash if you select germany?

Engine is loading the models also if counters are on, maybe it will crash if you dont have the sprite DLCs? (I did some changes there for V1.8)

Needs more testing from someone who gets the crash, let me know more of the cause, i cant recreate the crash. So we have to find out...

@Inquerion 1.8 Works for me an others, are you sure you removed all V1.7 stuff before installing 1.8? When you start V1.8 the second time after install do you get the checksum (DBSV) in upper right corner on the start screen?

playing as France there is an event that gives me mauluses to couple stuffs, starts with "20000 IC days in debt" and goes to 50000 with time.

@Faintingh Events may change or be gone if time goes by in game, also the new economy system may effect them or a decision, read the decision: "Introduction/Help" - "Ministers and Economy" + "Buildings each minister type gives" to understand how the economy strategic effects affect your economy now.

With the mod enabled, the game keeps crashing. Will this mod work on resolutions lower than what you have for settings, because I'm unable to play the game at that resolution.

@patriot1776 Works fine for me on lower resolutions, you installed something wrong or a running program like GPU TWEAK or any other is crashing the game, you have to close these programs before starting UBI. Or you dont have the HOI3 steam version with all DLCs. At wich point is it crashing?
