HOI III base game version
So, I was having all sorts of crashing issues with the full package installed. I've uninstalled the package and installed just the base game. Steam is set to update the program automatically. When the launch window comes up, I clicked on the Check for update button, and it tells me version 1.4 is available.

So what's up with that STEAM?

It is patch for base HOI3. I suggest not to start the game without it. This is the minimum playable.

Thanks. Any idea how to get steam to install it?

Wait. What about Package you wrote ? If you bought all expansion I suggest to run it all. If it is Collection, Steam is installing it in right order itself. If you bought separately, install it in this order: base HOI3>Hoi3 SF>Hoi3 FtM>Hoi3 TFH. To play you not need nothing else. When Steam installed game you can simply uncheck( uninstall ) in Steam Library all DLC ( Sprite Pack etc.) you not need. The game and the expansions must be in library ( HOI3,SF,FtM,TFH ). I remember, that you had "crash" issue. I think, you should get Podcat.exe.LAA and change original exe file.
"You unzip podcats exe into your HOI 3 main directory Not the sub folder for TFH. It replaces the original HOI 3 exe. Overwrite yes when it asks."

Thanks for the info. I bought the main game, and then the upgrade package. Something didn't go well. The base game is running fine.

I know there is update 1.04 - 3.04 or something that shows in the launcher. I tried updating by dropping that in the steam folder, and it did recognize and run. However upon Play from Steam, the launcher still shows that it is not updated, but the MOD option for Semper Fi: dies irae appears.

Anyway, I will try to load all in order, and then the various DLC that came with the expansion pack. I'll also try that podcat.exe.

oh, and one other thing. The game code shows it is for Semper Fi. Paradox game site accepted it for Hoi3, and Semper Fi, but it will not accept the game code for Ftml or TFH

I almost just gave up. I've ended up doing the folllowing for now. Maybe I will fiddle with more later, but...

Unistalled all content, downloaded base game, then Semper Fi Expansion (not Dies Irae Gotterdammerung), For the Motherland. I left all other versions and DLC out of the install.

At least on my laptop, running win 10, I am stable with this. Didn't even need to install podcat.exe. Still have to try it on the PC, running win 7, but will update on that.

If you want to install TFH, you will have to use "Podcat", I think.
