I really enjoyed these games when they came out, even though the english was crappy and there were a couple of (almost) exploits you could do to win!
Are there any newer games like this?

Not quite what you are looking for but there is an oldie but goodie--Fantasy General--that is like this. The scenarios are well-designed and there is enough variety based on who you pick. You should be able to find it for free online, too!

Have a question for you devs, any ideas why the cinematics of both games' narrative hiccups ruining the immersion of the moment? For example this:

This is a spinoff to Fantasy General and its other offshoot Fantasy Wars; all those games share many of the same mechanics. So those, plus the relatively new Fantasy General II, should be of interest.

I don't understand the suggestions above in terms of priority over Warlock (which existed since 2014-2015) so I think one suggestion was missing. I think you should actually focus on Warlock and Warlock 2.

They are made by the same developer that Elven Legacy, and this shows.

Warlock 1 is a more balanced experience than Warlock 2 and is better presented. It can also be player multiplayer by the way.
