Droeg the Conqueror despawned.

I was at the checkpoint just before Droeg's boss arena moving between the blue summon guy and the checkpoint trying out different weapons and while i was looking away from the boss arena swinging the clockwork scythe, i got the achievement for beating Droeg. I turned around and he was gone. I didn't get any gloom for "killing" him either. Too bad too, I would have liked to actually earn the win.

What were you doing just before this happened?
Did anything unusual happen before the issue occurred?
Can you try restarting the game and let us know if it happens again?
Can you also try resting at a Beacon and see if that resolves it? This can help us understand if refreshing the game state affects the issue.
If it happens again, what were you doing when it occurred?

Sorry I can't really try anything for you, I moved on and finished the game. When this happened, I had just respawned from fighting Droeg and had decided to try a faster weapon, so i was trying different weapons moving in between the checkpoint and the blue NPC summon. When it happened, I was facing away from the arena swinging the clockwork scythe.
