Mortal Shell II

Mortal Shell II

Difficulty needs adjusting.
Healing is scarce, as is checkpoints, so you end up being empty on heals for long durations, due to most enemies 2 shotting.

The most efficient thing to do is ignore the combat due to long run backs. That is a shame as the combat flow is fun.

I see 3 ways to fix the issue.

1: increase checkpoints.

2: give more ways to heal.

3: lower enemy damage.

Just one of those would make exploring more enjoyable.

Difficulty needs to go up not down... especially the bosses. They need more moves or something.
As you progress through the game you level up, not only your character and strenghth, but your healing as well. You can add heals and increase how powerful they are. Every thing you mention is already in place. I am guessing you have not found a Shell yet, which would be why the enemies are doing so much damage to you. Play the game a bit more and you will be fine. Game is great as is.
How far are you into the game?

You go from feeling like everything's a struggle to feeling like you're able to handle clearing from beacon to beacon pretty quick once you find your first estus upgrade.

I have only 7 heals and each heals for about 40% of my health, the upgrades to heal more are super rare, and you may end up healing twice from one battle, so you end up with long dry spells of having no heals or checkpoints to refill your heals.
I have 7 heals plus shrooms, healing is ok, the dmg tho is kinda high, some enemies have 10 combo attacks you can't interuppt that instant kill you tho so.... the game is 100% going to get tweeked when its out.

I also have the passive heal from the shrooms but they only bring me to 35% until i can find more. Works well with the berserker stone though.
equip slayer seal there is tools to make the game easier just use them and stop wanting nerfs to base game
It is the easiest soulslike ibn ages. There are plenty of items that "enable" easy mode. If you are having issues its either a ♥♥♥♥ build you made or just... beeing bad.
Cannot get to the first shell after an hour of attempts :lunar2019scowlingpig: Somehow the beginning (past the into / beta content) is much more difficult than Elden Ring, Remnant 1-2 - for the same reason I've refunded Nioh 2 (and never bought Nioh 3 as the result) and will likely refund this one too if I won't get to the shell within the next 30 minutes :lunar2019madpig:

No. Couldn't disagree more. Especially since when you 'launch' to your first area to explore you will FIND an upgrade to your 'flask' to increase healz. If you have the right equipment loaded parry is kind and MUCH easier than any other REAL Souls-like game out right now. You can also 'harden' to take the hit and come back mid swing when the enemy is pulling back because of the 'bounce' on your hardened shell. The game is extremely forgiving in a lot of areas and I'm ok with that because I kinda suck at Souls-likes.

You also DO get MORE ways to heal. Just starting the game and there's 2 ways to heal already. If you haven't figured it out I don't want to spoil it for you. Checkpoints are fine as well. You don't want a bunch of checkpoints sprinkled all around then the risk/reward for exploring becomes moot.

Lastly, if you have gotten to the main base then you REALLY should search around for an item that will make YOUR playtime a whole lot EASIER. It even tells you this when you pick the item up. Risk/rewards, ya know? Your call.
There is an easy mode, just use the Slayer Seal if you're having too much trouble with the game. I think it's pretty balanced right now as it is. If you're having trouble in one area go explore somewhere else, or just use that Seal.
The bonfires definitely need to be more frequent. At this point it's just too much of a struggle to actually get anywhere. The difficulty should come from challenging battles and bosses, not trying to actually get from A to B.

I'd say i explored about 80% of the north area, once you actually play the game past the start or try to venture into the south area, you will see.

I could agree more. Some maps don't have a single checkpoint, while others have 2 or 3. the run back can take up a eternity.
