As some users have found, here is a possible fix if you are having problems starting Talisman Prologue:

Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.

On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

On the Data Execution Prevention tab...

*If* you have "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" selected, then..

Click Add and browse to and select the Talisman.exe file (probably in C:\Program Files (x86)\Talisman Prologue)

the game starts and crashes pretty soon (during first minute).
i turned DEP on and added the game to exceptions, restarted upon request, still the same:

No joy. S3e_silulator_debug has encountered a problem. An error 11 on trying to access something. Starts with an opening logo screen in a window. After a moment, window flashs white and an error from Marmaladev6.3.0 pops up. Memory exception (11) attempting to access: 0A9CF018 [ip=15C0A467]. Click the Continue button and Windows crash dialog for s3e_simulator_debug appears appologizing for the inconvenience.

Same behavior before and after the "fix" described above. On Windows XPsp3 with nVidia GTX 6500Ti.

Getting a Marmaladev error that it could not initialize directdraw. I checked the DEP setting as you mentioned and it is not the issue. Any other ideas?

UPDATE: Well the old standby of "reboot your system" actually did the trick.... It's running now!

Telling customers to disable security features in order to get your game to run feels pretty irresponsible to me. DEP isn't exactly a new technology. Any chance you guys are working on a patch to keep your game from crashing without turning off DEP?

Adding the exe to the DEP exceptions list worked on my Windows 7 (64 bit) system. No other action needed.
