EU3 Chronicles, playing only Divine Wind
Hi, I have EU3 Chronicles and a while ago was trying to play HttT and couldn't for the hell of me actually find how to so.

Spent an hour or so searching through here and the paradox forums but the only thing I could find is that the option should have been there when I click to play, presumably either it is not here for me or I accidentally told it not to show anymore.

Any ideas?

You cannot. The EU3 expansions are not free-standing games but each one overwrites the previous expansions, you are only ever intended to be able to play the latest one - and the intention is you shouldn't want to play the previous ones, as the newer ones are much inproved!

So if you bought the base EU3 game you can play that, but if you then buy Napoleon's Ambition then the base EU3 game has been overwrittenb by NA and is not sseparately available to you any more. All the information and features of the original game are still there, except those that have been superceded. After that In Nomine was released (the three of which make up EU3:Complete) then Heir to the Throne then Divine Wind. But for instance all the events and info re Napoleon and the French Revolution that were added in NA are still there in all later versions, they've just been added to as well.

Why exactly did you want to play HttT rather than DW?

I cannot imagine where you found that info but I'm pretty sure it was not on the Paradox forums, as that NEVER been the case, as per the above.

From here actually, the thread is"Bought EU3 Chronicles, downloading just EU3?" and it is on the sixth page. Not to mention that on further thought I do remember it asking me which I wanted to run everytime I tried to play until I got tired of it and selected default thinking it would be easy to change when I wanted.

Just to get one last final confirmation/clarification...

I currently have EUIII Complete (EUIII + NA + IN), and I have been looking around at some mods for the game which are compatible with this version. Apparently the Mare Apertum mod is the successor to the Magna Mundi Platinum 2 mod which seems to be quite popular, and this is only available to the In Nomine iteration of EUIII. I am interested in trying out this mod, however I am also very interested in Heir to the Throne.

Once (if) I purchase and install Heir to the Throne, I am effectively cutting off any possibility of ever rolling back to the previous version of EUIII and stuck on Heir to the Throne forever - is this correct? Just want to get an idea of what I am getting myself into should I decide to make the purchase.

Thanks!

Yes, buying through steam does that.
