Help With Graphics
So, I just purchased EU3: Complete from Steam. Downloaded/Installed... however my graphics are horrendous.. If I could put a couple pics on here, I'd show you. The select your country screen is blue, with some red borders, and white where I think water is. The playing map is no better. I looked for a setting, but couldn't find anything.. is there an out of game setting I'm not aware of?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And since someone will ask ...

Minimum: 128 MB Video RAM graphic card, with pixel shader 2.0, compatible with DirectX 9.0C
You Have: 256.0 MB, pixel shader 2.0, and compatible.

I've checked and all drivers are up to date. The strangest part abuot this, is it's only the Map that isn't showing properly. All HUD and Menus work display just fine.

You may have the old Intel blue map problem, what exact video card do you have? If it's that, there's a workaround in the Paradox EU3 Tech Support forum, or you could buy the two later expansions HttT and DW, which ought to fix that.

ETA: does it really only have PS 2.0 support? Not 3.0? If so, do NOT buy DW as that requires PS 3.0

I solved that problem by upgrading my graphics card yesterday, only to come home, reinstall, and now the game crashes after about 15 seconds of in-game play.

What version and checksum show on the main game menu? Did you update your new video card's driver? The one that comes in Windows won't be any good.

Yep. Updated the driver right away, but good check. :)

The crash happens only when I attempt to do any type of 'Provincial Deciaon'. Whether it's the popup, or going directly to the province, clicking to view decisions.. As soon as I click one, music stops, and I drop to my desktop.

v3.2 (OEGS)

Oh, and if I try to continue the game, without making my Provincial Decision right away, when I start the game clock, it immidiately crashed.

OK, your checksum is way wrong. It ought to be JCSR. So that means your installation is corrupt.

Start by using the Steam client option to Verify Game cache Files, which ought to correct it. If it does not you need to do a full clean reinstall.

uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete ALL the EU3-related files and directories from under the Steam, now reinstall the game via Steam. Now run the Steam client option to Verify Game Cache Files until it runs clean.

Wowza, I'll try this, and post again. Thanks for your assistance!

I ended up having to delete everything, and reinstall again. But everything finally works. Thanks for your help.

I have a GMA 3100 (not x3100), which also has pixel shader 2, and has this exact problem. And i'm not buying 2 more quite expensive expansions just for a bug fix, bug fixes should be free not dlc... Chances are it will be too laggy to play also because of the graphical improvements.

However I can confirm Divine Wind does run on a gma 950 which also has pixel shader 2 (albiet very laggy) because my friend has it.
