Starting Death & Taxes through Steam

Hi there.

So, I recently installed Death & Taxes mod on EU3, but I found out that Steam doesn't open up the EU3 Launcher, it simply open up the vanilla game. I know that I can just manually launch the "eu3.exe" file from the game directory, but this is the point: I'd like to launch the mods directly via Steam, from the original Steam game. I wanna do this mainly for the playtime count.

Googling this, I found out that it should work by using, in launch options, the "-mod *modname*", i tried it, but after the loading screen, the game just closes. Can you help me to launch Death & Taxes through Steam and through the eu3game.exe?

Starting from the actual game folder is the only way I know of and I searched for a fair bit of time when I first came across that mod. I've never really been able to make the launch options work, so I have my doubts you're going to have much success there.

Find the .exe for the mod and add it to your library.

If the game closes have you checked game logs to see if it says why and so if you can fix it? Sometimes error are really stupidly simple once you know what the problem is.

That said it is not like Steam verifies game files automatically and there is no update for EU3 so couldn't you just replace the game with the mod so that is what Steam launches? Could make a copy of the game if you want to have it.

Or perhaps renaming the launcher so that is what steam opens? Not sure if it opens the game itself or calls upon eu3.exe as it has been years since I last played EU3.

If that doesn't work try asking in the Paradox forums as it is more active than here.

It allows you access to the steam overlay but not time.

If you care about that, you can open the vanilla game launcher in the background to artificially increase the time.
